Would you swap these physical players 1-on-1?
This would help Oilers cap situation, Detroit has a lot of free cap space for becoming years.
There is a poll included, where you can answer 2 options.
1.75m in cap plus a nmc so you have to protect him in the expansion draft. That’s got to be one hell of a sweetener.I would consider it if Edmonton sweetened the deal to account for the $1.75M difference in cap damage
Wouldn't this put the Oilers in worse cap hell as he gets over 1 million more a year?Bobby Ryan for Milan Lucic makes alot more sense

Dare to dream, dare to dreamThere is a better chance of me going home with Christina Hendricks tonight than Detroit accepting this deal.
Imo, adding 2 millions for next 4 years is not a problem. There will be lot of cap space during these years, and the contract will end when the new kid core will need their raises.
I've done those calculations and know this ****.
Also, NMCs tend to disappear, if the player once agreed to void it.
Even then, it's not worth it.
Lucic's NMC essentially forces a buyout in the summer of 2021, or else he has to be protected in the expansion draft. So if a team acquired Lucic this coming offseason, they would literally pay $16,666,667 ($10,000,000 in salary, $6,666,667 for the buyout) for two years of service.
Abdelkader on the other hand, won't need to be protected, he makes almost $2 million less per year and a buyout will cost a fraction of the cost because of the bonus structure.
