Calm down, jeez. He seems like a good guy, he just clearly couldn't cut it and there are multiple players ahead of him. He knows it and the Rangers know it.

Good for him to go back to a place he's great in and good for us in clearing an unnecessary contract. I don't think there is any animosity here at all.

I wish him nothing but the best and hope he continues to kill it in Europe.

Yeah, can't fault the guy. He obviously wanted to try to play in the NHL again, didn't make it, so he wants to go back to where he was successful.

Nice knowing you pal! The right decision for all of the parties im sure.

With the signing of Hayes and emergence of the Duke, this all worked out very well imo.

He doesn't want to report to Hartford? Fine **** him good riddance.

Jesus. The guy wanted to give the NHL another try, it didn't work out, and now he and the team will terminate his contract so he can go back to Europe. What's the problem? You make it sound like you're taking personal offense at this when this is a move that benefits both parties.

I never understood this signing in the first place.

It was a Patrick Rissmiller signing from the get-go. Unlike Rissmiller, the Rangers were able to clear the contract a week into the season. This was the best possible exit scenario, so no reason to not be happy for him and the Rangers.

Shows that playing in the NHL was never a priority. He was just hoping to catch on somewhere.

If healthy, he could have been useful.

If the NHL wasn't a priority, he never would have signed with us. He gave it a try and it didn't work out. Playing every other game in Hartford isn't going to get him back to the NHL any time soon.

If his priority was playing in the NHL he would take the conditioning stint and earn his way on an NHL roster so he could play in the NHL.

He obviously likes Switzerland better than the NHL. Easy vs Hard. He chose easy. Hence, not a priority.

It's not a conditioning stint. He didn't make the team. There are lots of players ahead of him. Lombardi is looking at spending the entire year in Hartford and not even playing every game due to the number of veterans they have. Like I said, if Switzerland was his priority, he would have just stayed there and never signed with us.

But whatever. He's gone. Good for him and good for us.

He cleared waivers, meaning no other team wanted him and was far far back on the depth chart here. He wasn't even in line to be a first call-up.

We have 2 spares on the roster, Hayes and Malone he's already behind. Then, based on pre-season and coaches comments, etc, he'd almost certainly be behind

Mueller
Hrvik
Bourque
Lindberg a

and maybe even a few other guys.

You're seriously going to tell me that 6-10 guys are going to go down and then Lombardi gets his shot. He was done here, it was obvious.

Good for him and the Rangers on getting out of this. He can go back to a great career in the swiss league and the Rangers clear a completely unnecessary two year contract.

Win-Win. Hope he continues to kill it.
