Guy might be as bad a skater as I've seen, but that may be one of the most fixable flaws in terms of going from awful to even mediocre. If he can do even that much, I think Karlsson has a shot at a third or fourth-line role. If he can somehow bump himself to even an average skater (unlikely), he's got 45-50 point, second-line upside.

If the Canucks end up signing Karlsson, they'll have a boat-load of young centers. It may be a case of 'quantity' over 'quality'. But amongst Karlsson, Zlodeyev, Costmar, Focht and maybe Michaelis, surely somebody has to work out.

Any idea if he might move up to play at the SHL level at some point?

Not sure if he ever skates well enough to be an NHLer but from what i've seen and heard of Karlsson he seems like he has a decent shot of possibly being a btm 6 C for the team down the road. He also looked bigger than the 6'1 they have him listed as on eliteprospects.

Looking at the Karlskoga roster they have him at almost 6'2 and 190lbs

Scored 2 goals (17th, 18th) on 7 shots, and was +3 this morning. Season totals - 47Gp 18G 27A 45Pts 117Shots (2.48 per game) +23 in 16:43Toi.

What can be projected from that level of success in that league at his age? Anybody?

Not sure how well those NHL potential projections website say about Allsvenskan alone.......

And if we only look at cases of prospects who moved from Allsvenskan at some point to NHL, they are naturally biased.

But I thought a quick reference list, although 8 years back, could be this:

2012–13 HockeyAllsvenskan season

That league is a little harder to project due to the small number of players who jump directly to the NHL but if you put any stock into league equivalency factors (i.e NHLe), his numbers this year actually don't look bad at all.

I've seen a number of different NHLe for the Allsvenskan over the past couple years which range anywhere from 0.36 to 0.46.

Which would put him at around 28 to 36 points if he were to make the NHL next season. So roughly in the 30 point range just to be conservative I guess. Though I don't think too many people here have seen him play so ideally you'd like to see him spend at least a season in the SHL just to see what we really have.

I think for Linus, projections are useless. It doesn’t sound like he has improved his skating stride so he continues to be a long shot. Everything else is there for him to develop into an NHL player though.

I would like to see him come over and play in the AHL for 2-3 years. When he’s fully matured he’s likely a good player at the AHL level. If he can improve his skating...

Yep. Again I am of the view North American pro experience may be especially critical for a potential defensive 3C/4C.

Would Nucks promote a Lind/Jasek and make that spot for Linus Karlsson? Is it just me or has the prospects been doing better at Utica this year?
