You are correct as Semenov did spend some time playing with Bure. Vancouver also double shifted Bure quite a bit and would have Odjick on his LW at times as well. That's what makes setting up lines difficult at times as they not only change game to game but during the course of a game, coaches like to have different match ups or mix up lines depending on the situation.

But for a game of NHL hockey, I think these are about as close as you'll get to putting together the best lineups while maintaining accuracy for every squad. Least that is what I attempted to do with the rosters when I was setting them up. I leaned towards maintaining lineups that were regularly used, or at least tried to do that to the best of my abilities with whatever information and footage was available.

oh, i was certainly not criticizing there. just wanted to add a bit more information and context to go along with the work you already did.

Oh no offense taken, I didn't take it as criticism, just wanted to share that note as I'm sure anyone making an attempt to try to post accurate lines will have similar difficulty as each of us have in recollecting combinations used from almost two decades ago.

I saved the three worst teams (SJ, TB, OTW) for last, and boy, they sure are the three most difficult lineups to determine considering the number of players those three clubs went through in their early years.

Finally, I conclude with the one of the absolute worst teams in NHL history, ladies and gents, your 1992-93 Ottawa Senators!

Turgeon-Baker-Kudelski

Freer-McBain-Archibald
Boschman-Brady-Loewen

MacIver-Shaw
Rumble-Marsh
Hammond-Luongo

Sidorkiewicz-Berthiaume

Scratches: Dineen, Murphy, Smail, Jelinek

And that's that for the 24 NHL clubs that existed in 1992-93.

I saved the three worst teams (SJ, TB, OTW) for last, and boy, they sure are the three most difficult lineups to determine considering the number of players those three clubs went through in their early years.

I recently posted in the Most Lopsided Game thread - here are the Sharks lines for the 13-1 blowout in Calgary (2/10/93). Archives from an old Sharks mailing list have game summaries from most games in those early years. Warning - it's not for the squeamish.

Tonight's lines:

Johan Garpenlov Kelly Kisio Rob Gaudreau
Mark Pederson Dean Evason Jeff Odgers
Hubie McDonough David Maley Robin Bawa
John Carter Mike Sullivan Perry Berezan

Tonight's "defensive" pairings:

Doug Wilson Doug Zmolek
Jayson More Neil Wilkinson
David Williams Rob Zettler

Scratches: Brian Hayward (back), Sandis Ozolinsh (knee),
Tom Pederson (shoulder), Pat MacLeod (shoulder),
Pat Falloon (shoulder), David Bruce (groin), Lyndon Byers (shoulder).
Pederson, MacLeod, and Bruce are accompanying the team on this road
trip, and are day-to-day.

Archives (from Jan '93 - Feb '05) of the old [email protected] (and even older [email protected]) mailing lists are online at http://www.plaidworks.com/archives/sharks .

That season was a disaster in NY and both Neilsen and Smith did lots of line juggling.

From what I recall from playing NHL '94 on the Megadrive and from watching a Jets-Kings game on Finnish tv, Tkachuk played mostly with Zhamnov and Selänne (especially in the game I saw and mostly likely after the half season mark) and Housley was paired with Numminen a lot.

I'm sure those players did play together quite often. I used video reference from the Vancouver-Winnipeg Playoff Series from 1993 (footage found on youtube) to generate Winnipeg's lines. Shannon was often doing the dirty work for Selanne and Zhamnov, and they were also used as the top PP unit for the Jets.

I noticed in video footage that Housley would play with Numminen on the PP, and at certain times, Numminen would be paired with Dean Kennedy and Housley with Bautin, but they were constantly changing.

Thanks! but i don't think that these lines are particularly accurate, espiecially when they have only 2 players in 4 line, and only 5 defensemen :)
