Preparing for MacDonald to be on the top pair again.

Gudas, Gostisbehere, Hagg, Myers, etc. all play the right side. Sanheim ended up getting moved back to the left side in the AHL as the year moved on last year anyway.

I don't believe this is true. He ended the year paired with Hagg. Sanheim played the right side.

I find a
Lindblom - Couturier - Voracek/Konecny
line pretty tempting.

I wouldn't mind if they rolled 4 decent lines:

Lindblom-Giroux-Konecny
Weise-Couturier-Voracek
Raffl-Patrick-Simmonds
Filppula-Lehtera-Weal

I would swap konecny and voracek and swap weal with raffl. I want to see what tk can do on the right side with couturier.

Sanheim can play both sides, but eventually I think he'll end up playing the left side with Ghost or Myers on his right.

I think it will look like

Konecny - G - Voracek
Weal - Patrick - Simmonds
Lindbolm - Coots - Filppula
Lehtera/Raffl - Laughton - Weise

Scratches: Read, Leier, Lehtera/Raffl

Provorov - Amac (please leave this team)
Morin - Ghost
Hagg - Gudas

Scratches: Manning

Elliot
Neuvirth

With us finally having depth, shocks me to see Read still in some peoples line up :amazed:

Good bye and good riddance, hope Europe treats you well

He's pretty much the best defensemen on the team in the dzone. If anything I can see him playing on the top pair with Provorov long before he is playing on the 3rd.

Morin or Hagg being able to handle top 4 minutes effectively is going to solve our MacDonald dilemma. If they are able to, then you can just run..

Provorov - Gudas
Morin/Hagg - Ghost

The third pair would be some combination of Morin, Hagg, Sanheim, and MacDonald. I would personally like to see

Provorov - Gudas
Morin - Ghost
MacDonald - Sanheim (I trust Sanheim more on his off-side than MacDonald)

Hagg rotated in for injuries, which are inevitable.

With the center depth they have they should just roll the best 4 lines and not jam mismatch guys on the 4th line.

Lindblom Giroux Voracek
Weise Coots Konecky
Weal Patrick Simmonds
Flip/Laught- Laught/Flip- Rafl/Lehtera

He had a better season than Raffl or Weise, so it shouldn't. Having those guys as the 4th line wings is a good example of depth, and Read is the only one of them who actually killed penalties last season.

Weise finished the season MUCH stronger than Read and the team has a longer investment left in him.

Read sucks man. Let him go.

Weise had 5 points in 50 games till he was gifted a spot with a healthy Couturier, who he probably won't get to play with this year. Having a longer contract doesn't make him a better player, it just makes him harder to move.

Who did Read play with when he potted half of his total goals in the first 5 games of the season?

Serious question, I don't remember.

Lindblom-Giroux-Konecny
Weal-Couturier-Voracek
Filpulla-Patrick-Simmonds
Raffl-Laughton-Weisse

Line 1: G needs to jump start his 5o5 offense. Put him with two skilled and hungry youngsters.

Line 2: Couts and Voracek are possession machines together. Weal would compliment them nicely as hes good finishing around the net/

Line 3: Filpulla is a good playmaker and a good veteran to pair Patrick with since hes also a center. Simmonds will provide goals and protect Patrick.

Line 4 + extras - Whichever 3 show to be the most productive.

My only concern with Weal on the 2nd line with Coots is the D matchups he will face. Not sure he can handle them. I suppose it's possible considering a 19 year old Konecny handled them well the first few months of the season.

You have to think about fit.
Weise fit well with Couts, where does Read fit at all?

Lindblom - Giroux - Simmons
Weise - Couts - Voracek
Weal - Patrick - Konecny
Raffl/Laughton - Filpulla/Lehtera - Read/Raffl

Thing is, I don't think there will be 4 lines, rather, some mix and matching depending on game situations,
say Raffl - Couts - Read as a responsible checking line
Lindblom - Giroux - Voracek as a scoring line
And so on.
Simmons having limited ES where he's less effective than on the PK and PP.
And guys not playing through nicks given the depth at forward, you can give a player a week off to get healthy (miss a couple games).

Everyone fits well with Couturier. If Raffl hadn't got hurt, it probably would have been him playing with Coots and Schenn down the stretch.

Fippula on the 4th line just doesn't seem realistic to me given how much ice time he got here last season.

Gudas won't be on the 3rd pairing.

I hope he isn't... but they put Amac as our #2. Just let that sink in. I don't know if that was to up his value for a trade maybe, but I think Hakstol will put him in the bottom pairing. Ghost isn't a bottom pairing Dman, but Hakstol had him there too.

I like your forward lines.

Ghost won't be paired with Provy though. He isn't suited for matching up against the best forwards in the NHL.

Yeah I'm with you on a lot of this.
My current below:

Line 1: Konecny--Giroux--Simmonds
Line 2: Lindblom--Patrick --Voracek
Line 3: Fillpula--Couturier--Weal
Line 4: Raffl--Lehtera--Weise/Read

Pair 1: Provorov--Gostisbehere
Pair 2: Sanheim--Gudas
Pair 3: Morin--MacDonald

1A: Nuevirth (I assume he starts as 1A)
1B : Elliott

I agree that Ghost and Provorov should be tried as the top pairing. Most evolved of the rookies and both proven to play against top end players and succeed. Ultimately though, Myers seems like the perfect compliment for Provorov and Morin for Ghost. I personally would drop Manning to the AHL and carry MacDonald as my #7.

Edit: (What? Too soon...?)
Provorov - Myers
Morin - Ghost
Sanheim - Hagg
