The Oilers have caught lightning in a bottle and the way the Oilers are playing defensively right now they could keep the Lightning bottled up.

The message in a bottle KK and Coffey are sending is breaking out up the middle and keeping the d zone coverage small which by the numbers is certainly working.

The McDavid genie is out of the bottle and he will thank Kucherov for keeping the scoring lead seat warm for him but not to get too comfortable sitting on it.

Seems we are in for a bit of a line shift but its subtle and not the spin the bottle line juggling we had with Woody. Draisaitl staying between Janmark and Foegele at practice yesterday while McLoed remains between a seemingly banged up Kane and the offensive black hole otherwise known as Brown.

I did decide to bring my unlucky friend (see the PreGame Thread) but if we lose I will hit the bottle.

Tampa Bay has a 5 on 5 goal differential of -18 and an Even strength goal differential of -23. An elite powerplay has kept them somewhat afloat but the Lightning are not a good hockey team anymore.

Need these points here.
Will be interesting because seems like NHL has entered the phase where they barely call anything. Usually like 2 PP a game for each team.

It's an interesting game. While TB isn't doing well they have something that no real team outside of NJ has and that's a real game breaker in Kucherov. They also have Hedman on the backend that is a real tough d-man to play against, something most NHL teams lack.

They aren't the team they once were, but they definitely have some guys that can push the Oilers as well as shutdown the Oilers.

Very interesting team that TB has become. 8-1 loss to Dallas, but 8-2 win against Carolina. Clearly a team that is starting to run into consistency issues, but can still be dangerous if you don't pay attention to detail

Heard that they are trying to save money on whistles

Hedman didn't play vs Vancouver.

Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman will not play in Tuesday's game against the Vancouver Canucks and is being listed as day to day with an upper-body injury, the team announced.

Hedman was injured in Saturday's overtime win over the Seattle Kraken. He saw just 13:40 of ice time in the win and did not play in OT.

Can't take them lightly though they still have 5 guys including Hedman around that PPG. Just looking at their forwards as a whole they do get more depth scoring at 5 on 5 than us too.

They really are a jekyll and hyde like team

Well good on one hand, but I always did enjoy watching him.

Indeed. Hedman is a great player. That's why we got to take advantage of the situation and get a W against a banged up team that's on a long road trip.

Our top 6 needs to dominate when this is what they are facing on D

TBay has been trending down for awhile now. It’s the only reason the Leaf’s beat them. They needed to wait like 5 years for them to regress to an average team and still needed a boatload of luck and Ref’s help to finally slay the dragon.

That said, TBays gonna be a harder test than alot of teams we’ve faced recently. They can make the east-west plays that Chicago couldn’t, which could be an issue for Skinner. So good test for our Defence tonight how we handle this skilled vet team.
