I’m excited for Saturday, I’m not really scared of this Panthers team. They won 9-5 last night, but Bobrovski allowed 5 goals on 1.95 xGA and the team had a lower xGF% against the Habs than we did against TB last night. We’re the better team, but we know this.

The game is played on the ice though, just have to show up as we did last night and get a solid performance between the pipes.

Jack Hughes with 5 giveaways is not ideal. The entire Lightning team had 9 and the rest of the Devils had 6. Don't really know how those are calculated but I would've thought it was more. Kind of hard to tell what the league average is for these kind of things either and how scorekeepers in different arenas do the tracking. Anyways, doing some basic stat viewing, Jack is just outside the top10 in giveaways and giveaways/60 which is definitely to be expected to some extent but he basically seems to average a tad over 1 giveaway per game. Definitely an anomaly game for him and I'd like to see him take far better care of the puck and make better decisions because his decision making/passing precision was way off today and definitely cost us some potential chances in the offensive zone.

Giveaways are a fake stat. In general, teams have more giveaways at home, which doesn't make any sense - the team with the most road giveaways would be 21st in giveaways at home, which is just the scorer paying more attention to the team they're used to watching. I'd suggest just not paying attention to them at all.

That said, yeah, Jack is clearly not 100% yet, but we don't need the arbitrary stat giveaways to tell you that.

I mean lmfao we played great.

Super happy we got a point. Not getting at least one with that type of effort would’ve been deflating. We were the better team by a pretty significant margin after the first.

Flying a little under the radar after how the top-6 performed last night, but I thought the 4th line was VERY good.

Lazar is a good 4th line guy, I liked his game a lot. He plays a simple/safe game, he got like 1-2 chances, but he lays the body, plays responsibly and brings energy. Low-event hockey, that’s what you need out of the 4th line.

He might bring less offense than Miles, but I feel way more at ease with him on the ice. Doesn’t seem to be prone to weird plays/decisions.

refreshing to see someone roof it in a shootout its really remarkable how these guys get in so close and try to stuff it through a pad or try to lift it over the pad when they are 4ft out.

if the nhl wanted to eliminate more games going to the shootout then force a way for teams to stop ragging the puck in overtime it kills so much time of an already short 5mins.

oh and that 5on3 was an absolute joke disgrace. zero creativity and also can the team more specifically jack stop trying short side roof shots along the goal line. we get it worked once but to see them do it 5x in a game come on.

anyone at the game? was it loud couldn't really tell on tv would've assumed it felt like a playoff game with the schedule
Some here have stated it should be a 10 minute OT.

Here's a radical idea that just came to me :

Each time a team deliberately brings the puck out of the offensive zone (and maintain possession during that), the game clock STOPS and only resumes when they get into the offensive zone.

That would put a stop to the BS purposely-delaying tactics to take time off the clock and get to the Gimmick.

If teams know they can't delay anymore, they'd make an effort to end the game when they're in the O-zone.

Now that is the kind of push you want at the end of a game. We probably could’ve done something similar in the first matchup if it wasn’t for the devastating last second goal. That was too deflating.
I really can’t be mad at this effort. We win this game more often than not.

It's hard to argue with the fact that while the 4th line generated very little, if anything at all, they gave up nothing at the same time.

It means they did their job effectively. I'm more than comfortable with that type of game and them getting roughly 10 minutes of ice time if they can keep the other team at bay. Leave the top 9 to produce the offense, which I'm confident they're able to do.

Lazar is showing how dumb our 4th liners are. Lazar plays a very cerebral game out there. Obviously theres not much offensive production but he definitely can help push play and defend.

I see Bratt is dragging down the straw :(

I know Lazar is listed as RW; do we know if he ever plays on his off-wing at all? If so, I think a 4th line of Lazar-McCleod-Bastian could be a very effective 4th line.

Also watching Meier live it’s clear he’s still nursing that upper body injury. After some contact he’s in visible pain then sucks it up and moves on. So this isn’t him nearly at 100%.
Geez I hope this isn’t true his problem this year has been a concussion
