Somebody mentioned the Sleepy Hollow TV show. I like huge parts of it? But it's a struggle everytime cause I don't feel that there's any chemistry between the black female cop and the the lost in time guy. I don't know if it's just a the way the characters are written or if it's cause they come from a different acting background or if it's just the actors being incompatible but there's nothing there. No camaraderie, no closeness, no fellowship of sort. The woman is a block of ice and the dude is hamming it up and there's no common ground where they can "meet".

These days i'm hooked on watching re-reruns of the Teletubbies. The drama and suspense are quite gripping and i do amit that sometimes the storyline brings a tear or two to my eyes.

(there... i said it)

Anybody watching Tyrant?

Really liking Tyrant. I'm still not sure what direction the show is heading. Will Bashar be the good guy or will he be the Tyrant? Shooting that guy in a flashback gave me chills. I'm also wondering if Jamaal will be able to satisfy his hot wife?

Gang Related, and Murder In The First have been pretty good so far. And I really liked the first 2 seasons of Orphan Black, really good for a Canadian made TV series.

I have mixed feelings for it. Even though I'm pretty tired of arabs always being depicted as evil dictators and terrorists, I still like the plot.
But I find some things pretty ridiculous, the dialogue isn't the best either.

Go bother someone else with your porn logic and mashed potatoes!

Never gets old.

Summer shows I'm excited about watching:
1. Extant
2. Strain
3. Tyrant
4. The Leftovers

Was on to Extant, but not the others. Found The Leftovers on one of the HBO channels and Tyrant and The Strain on FX, and have programmed their recordings.

Any additional info on Strain, Tyrant and Leftovers, namely why you are as enthusiastic about them including others who have recommended these shows, would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

OK, somebody asked about guilty pleasures in the last thread.

Naked Gun

I mean, that's another classic right there. Hasn't aged a bit. And even though the movie is braindead stupid, they were still paying attention to little details here and there.

Perfect mastery of the 'dynamics' of stupid jokes.

That's just too good. Starts with a classless, easy joke. Then they sort of have an opportunity to save it when the 'real' beaver comes down. But the look on Drebin's face just ruins the whole thing and we're back to square one.

Honestly, I can't find something negative to say about that movie.

If you like that, you'll love Airplane! It really inspired the Naked Gun series and is actually considered by many to be the funniest movie of all-time. It's also the movie where Leslie Neilson shed his straight man image and went comic. Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges... all serious actors who take the comic turn.

Highly acclaimed and it deserves to be. Airplane! is flat out awesome... and ridiculous.

Loaded weapon 1993 is seriously awesome and kind of forgotten thanks to more popular naked gun / hot shots movies during the same time. Highly underated, with an amazing casr. Worth a watch or re watched if u haven't seen it in a long while.

Also Kentucky fried movie 1977 for the start of slapstick humor and gross out humour. Not my fav, but still worth a watch.

In order -

Strain- awesome premiere this past Sunday. I love the genre-fantasy, sci-fi. The entire 90 minutes was riveting because it was pretty intense and creepy.

Tyrant- some Mid East country that has lost their dictator king and the rule is passing to two sons. The chemistry between the sons is very interesting, plus they have several very hot women if you like that. Again, another genre, drama, that I love.

The leftovers- I've seen three and it's getting better each week. It's about the people who are leftover after 140 million people are "Raptured". (Taken, but we don't know by whom or how). The story is not about the missing people, but rather how the leftovers are coping. The man mostly responsible for the show Lost is very involved in this show. (Lindeloff)
