Lemieux, but I don't think by any means that this is a crazy comparison. Skating ability is probably the most important skill to have and McDavid is the best skater of all time.

No one in the league since Lemieux can tough Lemieux.

Think about this...Jagr would ruin McDavid. Jagr can't even tough Lemieux.

McDavid is the more skilled player. Lemieux had a massive reach advantage.
Not sure if serious... You think THAT is what made the difference with Mario? Remember Lemieux scored almost 2 PPG during dead puck era, and from that era Teemu Selänne scored over a PPG pace at the age of 40.

Still 10 years too early for this.

The key thing that proves Lemieux would dominate any era is Jagr. A broken down Jagr proved he could still score in today's era. And Jagr wasn't even on Lemieux's tier.

Lemieux vs. Gretzky is a much more evenly matched debate. It's probably the only "Lemieux vs. ______" thread you can make without getting laughed at.

40 year old Selanne popped in over a ppg. You just explained your whole point there. Selanne isnt popping over s ppg in this era. Which dead puck era are you talking about ? The half seasons Lemieux played ? Mikko fn Rantanen was at a 1.7 ppg in half a season too just last year.

McDavid is the most advanced hockey player in league history. Stop with the old school nostalgia. Lemieux has been relegated to 2nd.

Mario's the smartest player I've ever seen. He had an instinct that nobody else had. Kind of like a Super Rich Man's Pavel Datsyuk without all the defense. He made plays nobody else thought were even possible.

I tend to agree but did we have a season when both Jagr and Mario had full seasons together in their prime?

McDavid's a better skater. That's really it. Lemieux had a better shot, better vision, better passing, could handle any level of physicality. And yeah, he had a reach advantage too.

Mario Lemieux once missed ~ 1/4 of a season with cancer and still won the scoring title that year.

McDavid is a great player, but this is not close.
