No one is talking about this. Nylander is flying under the radar as hard as that is to do in Toronto.

Wonder if Matty’s adrenaline goes up when he blocks a sure goal like that?… or, ho hum, just like stripping pucks.

They allowed 19 sog. It was a great performance buy the team but samsonov let in 2 softies and that's the difference

That last 10 minutes wasn't good and we let them back into the game

That isn't my definition of "great"

We did just enough to win

Team gets scrambling when the goalie is off and even then they did enough. 6 on 5 they were good too.
Bottom line is they won and only allowed 19 sog. That's pretty good. The goals weren't snipe so that leaves a goalie having an off night :dunno:

The team started scrambling because that's something they do sometimes when there sitting back on leads

Just like they did in the 3rd period of the Tampa game they dominated for 2 periods

Sammy will find a groove again. This is exactly why we insulated him with Murr, and vice versa. All goaltenders go through tough stretches, lets not make it a bigger deal then it needs to be.

I also think it's that much harder to find a groove in a timeshare. Usually 4+ days in between starts, so when Sammy goes B2B bad starts it feels worse then it has actually been. He's played every other game since December 8th, splitting the cage with Murr. In that time he's had 4 starts. The last 2 being substandard, and the proceeding 2 were B2B shutty's. So lets just pump the brakes a bit on the downfall of Sammy talks.

He's been better then advertised all year.

Is also the other team pushing harder. Just because they don't have the puck doesn't mean they are not playing well and in this instance, defending well.
Keeping the opposition out of the danger zones and forcing them to take crappy shots is playing well.
How many late goals did tb get that game? Zero because Murray did his job and the team played well.
Defending the lead isn't a new strategy and it happens differently at times

Yep .. It's a bit naive to think he'd rock a SV% above .930 all season. He's at a .924 right now. If he keeps that up that's still stellar.

Some underlying stats too:

- his high-danger SV% is .909, highest of his career
- his even strength SV% is .934
