Samsonov needs this break he wasn't good at all against Washington and today he allowed 3 goals on what? 18 shots? that's not great especially since once again they gave up 5 shots half way through the game.

Now I will also say I expected this because It's a 2 pm their time, 12 pm my time puck drop and I always expect those to be sloppy.

Samsonov did make the BIG save with about 2:30 to go though.

Take the break get their game back and be ready for the blues

Merry Christmas fellow Leafs fans. It’s been a good start to the season for our Leafs and hopefully Santa Dubas can bring us the gifts we need before the deadline, to ensure our stockings continue to be stuffed with Stanley Cup aspirations.

I didn't watch the game to see the zone starts, but Matty once again +3, his mates both +2. Responsible and octane offense, they are starting to feel akin to the Perfection Line which the Bruins have so enviously constructed.

Benn 6 blocked shots, confirming what some of us hoped to see in him (including Dubas I'm sure). I think he should be on the playoff roster.

not great by Sammy. but this team can defend, that's for sure. let's see if Dubas can add some more offence at the deadline.

Good to win, but I hope this isn't the start of samsonov falling off a cliff
Potential downside of rotating goalies every game is neither guy gets in a groove. At some point, IMO, you gotta give one of them a 2 or 3 games in a row. Doesn't have to be 10 games straight, but something like whoever is hot give him 3 games, then the other guy gets 2, then back to 3 for the first guy.

Well, Murray has won two cups and was the Penguins de facto starter from 2016-2019 so he has the experience to fall back on and ride out the highs and lows. Samsonov is 3 years younger and last season was his first year carrying the reigns as an NHL starter, and it seems like Washington was a poor environment for him. I'd say at this point he's still very much developing whereas Murray is a more finished product.

Not meant to be a huge value judgement against Sammy, but some personality traits can't be learned or developed. Murray has that F U swagger to him.

Sammy is more of the nice, happy go lucky guy like Campbell. Murray seems to be more serious and a killer

I like them both, but Murray gets the net for playoffs

If things continue on this trajectory I would tend to agree.

So should they fire Keefe? Trade Marner? Is Matthews leaving in UFA? Does this team still not got it? I wanna know if the ppls feelings from 3 games in remain the same.

Campbell seems to only be happy go lucky as long as things are going well, but his demeanor does a complete 180 when he struggles. Hopefully Samsonov doesn't have that same issue of letting his confidence spiral at the first sign of trouble

Heading into Christmas holidays 2nd in the league while being one of, if not the most, heavily impacted team for injuries.

Well deserved break!
