2 minutes left, a 1 goal lead, and Minnesota pulls the goalie.

The Leafs managed to clear the puck 3 or 4 times, forget one of them because I think it was an icing.

1st clear, for some reason Gardiner and Nylander were on the ice. Gardnier makes a good play in the corner, and Nylander some reason anticipates that, goes straight to the boards just off the top of the circle but not the point. Gardiner saucers a pass to Nylander, and Nylander on his backhand gets it out of the zone effortlessly. That's a good play. Time to pile on!

2nd clear, about 1:30 remaining, Komarov a big man, bodies his man, dislodging the puck, and bunts it back to Hainsey who was in good position near the corner along the boards. He flips it out, where a high stick hit it. Another good play started by Komarov, and completed by Hainsey to clear the zone.

3rd clear, was all Conner Brown and he deserved that goal. The Minnesota player, the one who scored both goals, got faked out by Brown and gave the puck away, and that was the clincher!

Clearing the zone when the goalie is out, that is pretty damn important. Yet, some of those same players are maligned constantly around here!

Maybe that part that makes it fun ... eh?!

I've been critical of Andersen's play all year but he was terrific last night. Was definitely the difference-maker and very deserving of 1st star.

(That said, would have been annoyed if we had lost 2-1 and that flubbed rebound off his chest was the winner.)

Your standards are pretty high if the Winnipeg and Washington games weren't good enough.

Winnipeg was a bad game, score was misleading, if it wasn't for incompetence on Winnipeg's part that would have been an easy loss for us.

We're excusing it because when the goalie steals you the game and demonstrates exemplary rebound control on 30+ saves, it is idiotic to fault him for not catching one shot that came off his chest.

If the shoe fits .. ;)

Brown 7 goals 4 assists, being one of the best defensive players, while playing on the 4th line for a lot of the season...

Lol such an underrated player
His contract will contribute big time to keeping our window open. I'm sure many here projected him to continue being 20 goal scorer and he is 1/3 there. 4th line or not.

Freddy was good, but it looked like minny did not read scouting reports, high glove side is his weakness, Shot were mostly low, big butterfly goalies safe space.
