Proposal: Leafs Sabres RD for C

Ledge And Dairy

Miller was scratched a couple times early in the season, yes. However when he did get a full time roster spot he played almost entirely with Dahlin and played quite well. He is definitely not a #6/7 or and is a solid top 4 option. He is also not overpaid like people here are stating

The Dahlin/Miller pairing was 3rd pairing. His ES ice time, quality of competition, and just watching him all indicate that he is/was/will continue be a 3rd pairing D. Not many third pairing Ds have an AAV of almost 4M and no team is going to want to give up real assets for a 4M AAV 3rd pairing D.

Kerfoot is worth a late round pick or mediocre prospect at best.

Miller is overrated but he’s still better than Kerfoot.

He’s a sheltered bottom pair defenseman who has been scratched by both of his last two teams.

A 3.5 million cap hit for a sub-30 point player that refused to sign with a team that drafted him? Sign Buffalo right up.

Yeah, yeah, shortened season and his drop off from being a 40 point scorer came after being traded from Colorado and having top six talent to play with to being a 3C in Toronto, and he really didn't like his odds in New Jersey...but what is his out look on the Sabres? To both those points.

Miller is no Norris threepeater, but it's not like the (Troll) proposal was asking for Matthews or Marner.

Buffalo carried 5 NHL RD on their NHL roster

They had two UFAs in bogisian in right side and Scandella on Legt side wanting to play them to market them for trades. Both got injured and were released or traded.

There isn't a playoff team in the league that would play Colin Miller regularly it it's top 4.

The one that comes to mind off the top of my head is the leafs, hysterically enough.

He's a better option than Ceci/Barrie, if only slightly.

I'd do this deal, but prefer Montour be moved instead. Montour, Miller and Risto are all two (three?) sides of the same coin. Ideally sheltered 4/5 d-men. Miller costs less (barring Montour taking a cheaper deal).

No thanks from Toronto. Kerfoot is an above average 3c can move up the lineup and also play wing. Rather that than someone who doesn't move the needle on D.

Leafs definitely need to move money from forward to D in the near future this just isn't the move. I don't think Miller would be a fit at all. His minutes need to go to Sandin/Liljegren/Dermott for development.

Don't think Buffalo would really need Kerfoot I know they have Mitts still but don't know their prospect pool well. Probably better off using that spot to develop a young player.

I don't think the value is that far off though.

Kerfoot for Montour is the more fair trade and the leafs don’t need another defenceman like Montour

Kerfoot isn’t close to Montour.

Buffalo is much better off re-signing Johan Larsson as 3C. Colin Miller was scratched because he’s the odd man out of Risto, Jokiharju and Montour on the right. Kerfoot isn’t worth any of those guys. Kerfoot types are a dime a dozen. Certainly not worth a legit top 6 Dman.

I'd gladly welcome Kerfoot to the team but we have no expendable assets for such luxuries. He's a good 3c we have bigger fish to fry than adding another 3c. Especially if it means moving one of our few assets we have to get it.
