ya it sucks its sport shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit happen , seems like the leafs have all the bad luck in the world ,
tavares in the lineup they destroy the habs in 4 . a freak injury and it becomes a close series ... a shit bounce in game 5 and series is over , blah blah blah … if sports were predicable vegas would be broke

Outscored 18-6 in the last 4 series deciding games, 11-2 in the last 3. Common sense tells me that luck is not a factor here, what does your common sense tell you?

im beginning to think that the leafs community would have been happier if this team got swept instead of having to deal with game 7 heartaches.

dude the first line had an expected goals of over 13 and they scored 2 ......... they had higher totals then teams who made it to the second round ... either you believe they are missing on purpose or the goaltending was really good ?

and people need to stop blaming just AM and MM... ffs sacks hyman was expected to score close to 5 which was the most on the team and he SCORED 1 GODDAMN GOAL with 4 points over 2 years ... and yet no one cares. ... Just to put that number in prospective , he had as many expected goals as TYLER TOFFOLI and YANNI GOURDE for their WHOLE playoff run !!!

Not more of this expected goals nonsense. The actual disconnect between this imaginary “expected goals” and real goals shows what a nonsense stat it really is.
As far as Tavares being injured, they had him the year before and still lost

Don’t know about you but I don’t want the Leafs to win a round, rather I want them to win the Cup.
All Cup Champs found ways to beat insane goaltending or else they would just be, we lost bc of goaltending. Top players find ways to contribute on the scoreboard and not just advance stats. Call me old fashion but I would take real goals over expected goals.
Being the best players and highest paid players come with accountabilities. It is not about blaming player x or player y….. did Marner and AM performed to expectations based on their regular season stats? They didn’t.
Just like if you buy a brand new Ferrari, you expect it to perform and if it didn’t, do you not go to the dealership and figure out why or just find reasons to comfort yourself that the Ferrari is fine and will perform sooner or later?
AM and Marner as well as the coaching staff didn’t perform, esp in elimination games and it has been a common occurrence over the past few seasons. If they come out tomorrow and stated they actually have the Twisties, that’s another story. As of now, none of them have come out and say they were hurt or in pain….
It is not okay to choke every playoffs, but if they continue to find other reasons to cover their choke job instead of facing it head on and solve it, it will happen again.
All they need is to lead and win the Cup next season and will become immortal.

Leafs Home Board
Who were our main PKers in 2017-18?

In 2017-18 the 3 most used PK forwards were Hyman (2:39), Komarov (2:35) and Connor Brown (1:50) and our best Dmen on SH TOI/g were Ron Hainsey (3:59) and Nikita Zaitsev (2:57) with #3 Roman Polak ( 2:30)

This was our record setting 105 point and 49 win season where the Leafs finished 6th overall in the standings with #2 best PP% and 10th best PK%.

Then we switched GMs.

In 2018-19 we added Tavares and PP% dropped to 8th and the PK% to 18th.

Then we switched Coaches.

In 2019-20 Special teams PP% end up 8th again but the PK% dropped to 25th.
In 2020-21 Special teams PP% dropped to 16th and PK% ended up 24th.

Our 24th ranked PK% now had Marner, Hyman and Mikheyev as forwards and Muzzin, Holl , and Brodie as our top SH TOI/g Dmen.

Campbell was outstanding for us, we ran into a hot goalie but guess what, so did our opponent. Goaltending wasn't even close to being the reason we lost.

How many times are you going win in the playoffs when you are 0-7 in games where you have a chance to close it out? We've been outscored 18-6 in the last 4 series deciding games, 11-2 in the last 3, how do you expect to ever win when you don't show up to play when the stakes are the highest? Like cmon people!

In a series there isn't usually one "the reason" we lost. Losing comes down to multiple reasons. Price was outstanding in that series, that is reality. He was a factor. Not the only factor but it was a factor. Depth? The GM painting himself into a cap corner so he is forced to play guys like Jumbo and Simmonds, those 2 guys were useless, like utterly useless, you could take virtually any forward from the Marlies and have as much of an impact. The coach icing a questionable approach. no line matching, no trying to get AM and MM away from Danalut and his line. The special teams being broke for multiple months with apparently no fix. Injuries to key players, Tavares, Foligno, Muzzin, Andersen. Facing probably the best checking line in the playoffs, with Danault at center. Glayenchuk making a stupid stupid play that resulted in an OT over time winner. A fluke goal off Bogo to win a game. Montreal looking way to comfortable, there was virtually no physical play from Toronto. Marner shooting too much/ taking shooting chances away from AM. Sandin looked like a sure fire NHLer on the rise, people were talking that this guy was a lock for top 3 and then the playoffs hit and he was garbage, pure garbage, his mistakes resulted in at least 2 goals against.

There were many many factors as to why we didn't win that series, way too many reasons for a team that finished 5th OA in the standings. When you hit the playoffs you have to have your S*** together, if you don't, this is what you get. You have to have a coaching staff that knows how to keep its team focused. You have to have players who are ready to play playoffs hockey. Cute plays is not playoff hockey, grinding, digging, fighting for puck/position is playoff hockey. IMO Campbell, Nylander, Brodie, Bogo and Spezza showed up, the rest of them were passengers. IMO not a single coach showed any leadership.

It has been a steady decline since Dubas has taken over. He has gutted this team due to his failed cap spending. I just don’t understand how some people can’t see this
