If Nylander was insterested in signing a 4-5m bridge he probably would have by now? His agent likely wants him to get his long term money before Matthew's and Marner because it's going to be a lot harder to ask for 7/8m when they are signed.

Holding out for a bridge contract seems dumb since the purpose of a bridge is to go out and prove yourself. It's easier to sit at home and lose money if you're going to be getting 7 or 8 years. You lose a much higher % of games under contract if you hold out on a bridge.

Value aside (havent really looked at the merits of the trade) it doesnt make sense to me but I could be wrong.
