Isles aren't trading a cost controlled quality RHD and 2 solid prospects for a UFA RHD and Kapanen. Lets try this again. If you want Mayfield offer up something better then Barrie that's younger and under contract. There's a few guys in the system i'm sure you can offer in return.

On track to become, in terms of ceiling Wilde’s got all the tools to be a #1 D and Bellows could be a good top 6 power forward.

First it was Bracco they try to dump up in proposals. Now i am seeing Barrie in them. Teams wont trade cost controlled young players for ufas. On top of that you offer Kapenen to for Bellows a top prospect, a top 4 dman whos cost controlled, plus Wilde whos potential high ceiling for a top 2-3 guy. So basically your proposal sounds like kapenen for Wilde, Bellows and Mayfield. Lol.

What would the Leafs decline for? Trading Kapanen over Ceci and Kerfoot or getting a quality RHD and 2 prospects who have solid projections if they develop right? This trade favors the Leafs a massive amount and even Garth Snow wouldn’t make the deal.

Two years down the line leafs could have 2 top 4 d men collectively making 2.2 mil and bellows who I would be confident scoring 25+ goals if you put him along side Tavares or Matthews for Kapanen. but the leafs would for sure decline that

I wish we could staple this at the top of NYI trade proposals : The Isles are building around 22 yr old Barzal, 20 yr old Dobson and 24 yr old Sorokin,who they want to bring over this summer.

So, take impending ufa Barrie out because the isles will not move top prospects or Mayfield from their top 4 to rent Barrie.

Not sure how high Lou & Trotz would be on Kapenan,who from the sound of it was called out . Is he part of the immaturity issue the HC spoke about?

It took Pulock till he was 23 to reach the NHL and stick.It took Toews until he was 24.

We do not mind having patience with this 19 and 22 old.

Mayfield is exactly the type of defenseman the Leafs need but yet they're just trading for prospects? Barrie is a UFA cap dump and Kapanen was added it because the trade would be laughed at even more if it was Ceci/Bracco/Kerfoot/etc instead. OP heavily favors the Leafs in the short term and future.

He's available for 20 games and then bolts for a ton of money. Nevermind the whole Isles are a defensive team and Barrie's not really a defenseman.

No need for prospects? In a salary cap world you’re entry level prospects like these hold great value.
Any leaf fan who walks away from this is crazy?
An isle fan who would want to give up that package for those Leafs is probably crazier.
