Buffalo isn’t taking back Kerfoot
After the trade Kerfoot would be 3rd on the Sabres in goals and assists. And 4th in points.
I’m not trying to say Kerfoot is a great player but they are going to need some decent players on their roster if they ever want to turn things around. Kerfoot is a decent depth player.
Even if they blow it up and go full rebuild they need players around while their young guys develop. Not having that last time is part of how they got into this mess in the first place.

To this point look and find the 2015-16 leafs roster. With about ~20 games left and after the deadline we traded away a bunch of veterans and brought up the 1st wave of our youth movement (Nylander, Hyman, Leipsic and more) but we still kept players like P.A. Parenteau because they were good people for the rookies to learn how to play with because those players had enough skill to help the young guys develop. Kerfoot would be in the same boat for the Sabres.

We already have bogo, what is the need for coburn? Tierney is fine, but not at the cost of lillypad.

As for the 2nd proposal, hard no to hall. There are several players id like to target, hall is not one of them.

Is Tierney better than Kerf? Not better enough to move Liljegren.

And I'd decline Hall for free, at this point. He's a problem.

First one seems at least reasonable, second one doesn't.
If BUF is trading Hall at max retention, taking on a player who is essentially a cap dump with 2.5yrs left and adding a 3rd they should be getting back a hell of a lot more than a late 1st. Lol at the Leaf fan who said no to the BUF deal.

LOL @ the fact you guys think Kerfoot is a cap dump for Buffalo when he would be 4th on your team in pts... above Taylor Hall and would be your #2C. He's a cap dump for competitive teams that don't need him but it's funny thinking that Buffalo fans think they are above Kerfoot with the team they have.

My favorite part is when they try to convince the other team he has decent value so they can low ball the other piece for your good piece
No comment on his value... but just you wait - he ain't considered a scrub around the league.

I bet , if Kerfoot is moved; it's closer to leaf fan value than you'd think. It just gets to a point where ppl get annoyed with the constant barrage of the same players name....thankfully other GMs don't listen to HF, nor has Dubas been sending memos to them about his availability every second of the day

Maybe. As the sang goes there's a sucker born every minute. Can't blame fans for not wanting to take back expensive role players with term in this environment though. Kerfoot would be fine if he made a couple million a year. At 3.5 million? No thanks. Better off saving the money for free agency or to "help" other teams get under the cap next offseason.

Probably better for the Leafs to move Kerfoot in a separate deal.

Many of the teams with players the Leafs might be interested in aren’t that excited about taking Kerfoot back in a trade package.
