Jasper lindgren one of babs favourite prospects , hes a horse and played really well in Europe hoping he makes a full time Marlies stint this year MY vote .

Ian scott crushed the combine on his draft year i'm pretty sure that's why we picked him

And nielsen i think hes the most proven out of these 3 but i think hes pretty much at his ceiling

Super torn here
Marchment- Explosive development track
McGregor- great two-way, great playoff, good even strength scoring but no PP time
Lindgren/Hollowell- smooth skilled D
Chebykin- toolsy as hell
Kara- younger Russian Marchment (development wise)
Kizimov- better than either was at 17
Scott- dominant skillset but lacks consistency
Holmberg- swedish enigma primed to either play SHL or be a big factor in a freshly promoted alvenskan team

I think the Lindgren vote comes from when he was drafted and people heard the Karlsson comparisons.

Marchment for me here all the way. The guy has done nothing but improve since his PTO at the rookie camp a couple years ago, not to mention he has pretty decent speed and some soft hands for a big guy. I think he’s gonna be an NHLer in a couple years, if not for us then somewhere else.

I don’t get that sense with Lindgren.

Voted Marchment

Martins Dzierkals being massively underappreciated here though

Suprised Stotts won the last one.
Several on here I'd vote first

How so? I’ve never heard of this from a goalie before.
He was top 10 in 3 ? and i think he got 1st or second on the pressure plate Which is one of the hardest

Standing long Jump he got SECOND over all in 2017 Draft year and it was a blow out between 2'd and third he was .5 back from first.

Tied for 9th on wingspan

7th in vertical jump

And he finished quiet high in most Other events as well i can't find the exact result right now but i know he did really well in the combine .

Scott also went higher than Carrey price in the WHL draft i think he was the highest goalie ever

Then why wasnt't Lindgren voted in the top 5?
Maybe it comes from the fact that Lindgren has had 2 solid seasons in different leagues? That cant be it though.

I’m sorry, I don’t see it! MAYBE similar up to their U17 years... Kara started playing against men in his U19 year, Marchment didn’t start playing against men until his U22 year.

They’re completely different players stylistically who play different ppsitions in different leagues...

Is Dzierkals even under contract anymore? Stotts’ U18 season was much better than Any season Marchmrnt had until his U21 year...

Voted for Lindgren before I read any posts or saw any results. Solid defensive prospect who was drafted as a project and has been developing well. Afaik, he was one of the best defenders on his Finnish team last year. Don't think he's close to the NHL yet, but he's a legit prospect and would play a solid defensive game.

Alright, I admit my post sounded way too absolute and definitive.
I'm usually one to temper expectations good and bad on prospects, bc there is so much up in the air with them

But I made my bed so time to lay in it..!

Dzierkals is not on contract, but we retain his rights. He was a solid Solar Bear last year, fun to watch, but I feel like being in the ECHL just made him drop of most's radars. Not a world-beater but should be in the poll, imo.

Marchment and Stotts.
I would not have put Marchment ahead of Stotts in March's U18. But we're not looking at his U18, or U19, or U20. Marchment is an old prospect but he has shown work ethic and commitment this past year that is hard for me to ignore. Again not a world-beater, likely no NHL flash to his game, but he's a hard working energy player that I can see blooming into a late-start NHL game.

Stotts I just don't see making the NHL. Of course, I'd rather be wrong than right, but well before we drafted him, I just didn't see much that stood out to me (in my admittedly small sample size I saw).
He's not small! But he's not big either...
He can move across the ice and keep with the pack! But won't beat anyone out in a foot race...
He can handle the puck on his stick! But I would not say he has hands...
He'll get back when the puck goes the wrong way! But I wouldn't put him as a defensive go-to...
He understands the game! But he doesn't think 3-4 steps ahead like a game breaker...
He's got a decent shot! But he doesn't use it a whole lot...

Check this gif...

He he's not streaking anywhere, he doesn't move his hands all that much, doesn't pull a fancy move... and yet he beats the D, beats the goalie and scores. That's Riley Stotts in a nutshell to me.
And maybe that's exactly all we need from him, not all players need to be fancy specialists, and we should want some middle-of-the-pack, well-rounded guys. But I have concerns of, 'if that's where he is now, can it translate to a higher level league?'

Again, I wouldn't have given March a second look when he was Stotts' age, so obviously there is still hope, and most of the voters here seemed to have more hope than I do, so that's a good sign, but that's where I am right now
He just doesn't stand out to me.
