Meh. Campbell is turning 31 in January he is 30 right now. They've played about the same number of games. I don't see a massive difference here.

2-3 years of prime is huge.

Such a shame, Campbell seemed like a perfect fit for Toronto.

I think NJ overpays on a short term deal, maybe something like 6M x 3 years. They start next season with Campbell and Blackwood, with Bernier starting on LTIR and possibly getting some looks if either of the other guys struggle.

Gives them flexibility to dump Campell after a year or two if Blackwood comes back to form, and if Blackwood continues to suck they can dump him as RFA next season while continuing to explore other options.

That's a lot of salary to spend on question marks but even average goaltending is an enormous improvement for NJ. And they certainly have the cap space.

If NJ isn't in the hunt in Jan/Feb I have to think Fitzgerald's job is in jeopardy.
