Willy would be better than Kappy for sure. But no where near as good as Bracco if you want to produce more goals. Willy likes to hold puck and skate with it. It is the way he plays. Matty likes the give and go game with many short passes back and forth to open up ice. 2 completely different styles of play. Bracco likes the short give and go game too. Honestly once you see it the first time you will completely get it. First game I saw it when they were like 14 i sh*t my pants. It was like a US all-star team against an Ontario all-star team (most guys both teams are now in NHL) and Team USA won like 8-2. Bracco potted 5-6 and Matty 2. and they had puck passing it back and forth between the 2 of them. Marner was completely invisible.

He apparently turned down a 2.1 x 2. Which is how negotiations work, both sides work closer to what they want. Also this was at the deadline, and he may have gambled on a more productive end to the season + playoffs.

Anyways, I see no reason why Marner get's 1.5M higher than the top of the line comparable (Kucherov), when he isn't even as good as him.

I’d like to see a true shut down third line. A solid 2 way line that can be counted on to use against the other teams top line, instead of having to use our Tavares line to do that. It must have a faceoff specialist as well.

If they can slide Marner $5M OTR than maybe he signs for $9.5M. It was also be a great situation for him because media can all say he took the hometown discount or less than market like Tavares. Matty does not have the marketing potential so he had to make more on the CAP.

Not bad if a 22 year old kid makes 9.5M + 5M = 14.5M real top line comp. Tavares at 11M +3.5M = 14.5M. So those 2 guys will be top of charts on money scale.

Yep and with the nhl salary being paid in US $ that's like $13 mill CAN, rolling in it AND the most beloved leaf that took a "discount"

I know Marner has amazing chemistry with Tavares. However, I am curious as to why we never tried Nylander with Tavares when we had all this time to experiment with lines.

Well then at least we will have the CAP figured out. And then we should have 2 more decent RH defense in prospect pool and sign Ferland as a UFA. Like Dubie said they have a lot of work to do. Carolina may take AJ and Z for Fox and its round 1 pick this year. Maybe it can work. They need more scoring so AJ would be appealing. We get our round 1 pick back. and a prospect for a salary dump in Z.

The only things I know for sure are Rielly as the #1D, Tavares/Matthews down the middle, and Andersen as the starter.

It's a really good starting point, to be honest with you. Then add in a great top 4 guy in Muzzin, and some great wingers in Marner, Nylander and company. There's some holes on the team, but nothing that can't be worked out. For the first time in forever, the things we are missing are secondary pieces and depth.
