First 3 shifts are a great example of Lane Hutson.

He made an awesome play at the blue line for his first point, and then got completely lost in his own zone, leading to a goal against.

He's gonna be on the ice for a lot of goals in his career, for both teams lol.
Itll be interesting to see how much his Defense can improve over the next couple seasons.

He has to learn a whole new gameplan. That’s something you can teach but his skills can’t be taught.

The Savior has come.

Its a tough night as a Red Wings fan where we need points to keep playoff hopes alive but on the other hand I wanted Hutson to have absolutely light it up on his first game. Who do I take scheduling complaints to? Bettman? Yeah, I'll just complain and blame him - it feels right. FGB.

Just score more goals. We don't care if we win. We just want to see a three point night from Hutson. You are correct. It is always Bettman's fault.

He will get better defensively with time spent learning the Habs system. He will get better offensively as well as he grows and gains experience.

He's gonna be on the ice for a lot more goals for than against IMO. He proved that as the go-to guy in all situations in college and in the WJHC.

He looked out of place a couple of times already. Not that uncommon for a 20 years old who signed his first contract days ago.

His poise, vision and puck handling skills are off the chart. As you said, it will be interesting to see how his defensive game evolved over the next couple of years.

Oh ya, its expected at this age/experience

But most of the questions about Hutson will be how he handles forecheck/physicality and how he handles the Dzone when other team has the puck.

His offense will come, hes just too shifty.

That goal was a combination of things - broken stick to Armia and 4 guys running around. He'd been on the ice for a bit at that point. Well beyond a normal shift. Was he too high? Sure. Nothing that doesn't happen to guys with 10 years of experience. First period of first game and only one practice under his belt? I can live with it.

Detroit isn't the heaviest team, but he handled the forecheck from Fabbri with ease. He's already won at least one puck battle in a corner. Obviously he's not going to out muscle people, but he'll be able to use his head and his feet a lot.

He's already shown his outlet passing skills. He's putting them on the tape of forwards.

This kid is really, really tiny. Larkin got around him and drove the net with Hutson hanging all over him like he wasn’t even there. Looks really good with the puck though.

par the course for most young defensemen. Though Hutson may be an extreme case.
