I still don't know how they got away with that album art. But that's Hollywood for ya, full of disgusting degeneracy.

Hope he takes em to the cleaners.
You've been conditioned to think that nudity - the state of one's natural self - is degeneracy

Spoiler alert: It's not

The "baseball game comment" was quite weird. Not really sure thats what I would think of.

Anyhow, its a legendary cover and hes just trying to get a pay day for it. Sad thing is that would never make it to print in todays supercharged PC age.
I know it's cool to talk about how "PC everything is", but this doesn't even make sense. You can literally still buy the album with that very same cover. A "supercharged PC age" would have made that cover illegal.

I think he meant more along the lines of in today's world, the coverart would have been shot down by the label and they would have had to use something else.

Maybe nowadays they'd at least have the baby in a lifejacket. Safety first!! :sarcasm:

Janelle Monae is topless on her latest album cover. A PC society would have stopped that.

I can’t pinpoint when it happened, but Politically Correct somehow morphed from making fun of politicians for not taking a stand on anything for fear of upsetting someone to referring to mostly not being able to tell racist or sexist jokes without consequences. It’s a catch all at this point for excusing crappy behavior.

No one gives a crap about a naked baby in a pool on an album cover. Except that weirdo in this thread who thinks it’s a sexually suggestive image.

If I understand this premise of this lawsuit correctly…

If Spencer Elden wins, doesn’t that mean millions of Nirvana fans that have the cd would be in possession of child pornography?

I think I might have the cd in storage somewhere - would I have to turn it into my local authorities?

The guy recreated the iconic photo and profited off the image for years also, so wouldn’t that mean he’s profited from child pornography as well?

My big thoughts is Nevermind is probably one of the top selling albums of all time - I'd be shocked if it isn't top 100.

But it isn't so high selling because of the cover art. The cover art is iconic because of the album. The guy wants to get paid because of the "iconic cover art" but has the causation completely backwards.

According to Eldin’s lawyers, Cobain had nefarious intentions with the cover art and was obsessed with pornography:

Cobain “described his twisted vision for the Nevermind album cover as a manifestation of his emotional and sexual disturbances” in “several journal entries.”

“Cobain’s preoccupation with pornographic imagery started at a very early age,” they continued. “One of Cobain’s school classmates discovered him drawing pornography as a young child.”

The suit is basically saying anyone who owns the CD has child pornography.

The fact he made money off of the album cover for over 20 years is sad. He charged to sign autographs, he was paid for appearances and other stuff. It was after he stopped getting booked he sued

Which by using the logic of the language his lawsuit was brought about, he also enacted in the promotion of child pornography.
