I'm hoping he sees a game. The season is ****tered, might as well give him a chance to see the game at the NHL level and figure out what he needs to succeed.

and perhaps more importantly, an NHL paycheque for a short while. I think that factor can't be overlooked for a team trying to reward their choice prospects.

Ah yes, forgot about that. Quite a week for him, he's moved from the ECHL to the NHL within a week.

I feel he was called up over Bachman strictly cause OKC needs Bachman right now

If he sees a game his career is as good as done. I think he was called up to sit on the bench and not affect OKC's playoff chances.

If Brossoit sees icetime he'll be the 7th goalie for the Oilers this season.. must surely be a team record for goalies used in 1 season... maybe close to an NHL record as well.

By that logic Lander and Klefbom should be in OKC and Eager and Brad Hunt should be with the Oilers. I think it has more to do with Bachman being a known commodity and the Oilers wanting to give Brossoit a glimpse of the NHL.

Eager is actually an honest player at the AHL level when he isn't whining to the ref taking undisciplined unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. And Hunt is OKC's most offensively minded D man which OKC has nobody that can replace his production. So more like someone like Curtis Hamilton and Davidson with the Oilers if we are talking about players who are not near as important for OKC's playoff run.

I'm not saying that Hunt is a better player than Klefbom, but he is of more use to OKC right now than Klefbom is, and lets not forget Oscar hasn't had a consistently good season in the minors. I'm more than confident that Davidson, Grebeshkov, and Leach could fill in for Oscar's absence to an extent here in OKC, but nobody else on the roster could replace what Hunt does and his production most notably on the pp.

Good point. He might make an extra like 10k for this which is a pretty significant chunk of change for a guy making 70k all year.

Was just off on a slight tangent and saw a site that listed goalies that have been captains in the NHL...

John Ross Roach, Toronto St. Pats - 1924-1925.
George Hainsworth, Montréal Canadiens - 1932-1933
Charlie Gardiner, Chicago Black Hawks - 1933-1934
Bill Durnan, Montréal Canadiens - 1947-1948
Roberto Luongo, Vancouver Canucks - 2008-2010

Might be a bit early since he's just arrived but I think Ben Scrivens would make a good captain... or at least an assistant captain. Intelligent and a real leader out there on the ice. Make it so.

Never agreed with Luongo being captain. That's a large responsibility as a leader. Takes too much focus and such off playing the actually game for goaltenders

I dunno... a goalie has arguably the most feel and connection to the game on the ice... he's out there for 60 minutes and can observe and feel the ebb and flow of the game likely better than any other player and any coach can.

I think a strong case can be made for a goalie as captain or assistant captain... especially one as intelligent and as tuned into the play as a guy like Scrivens.
