Honorable mention to Patric Hornqvist drafted LAST in the 2005 draft.

He gets an honorable mention because obviously I'm stretching the date range to a full decade....lol

Palat was also 11th in Selke voting last year, if that matters to anybody.

Not to mention 52 of his 59 points came in the last 54 games of the season. He was also top 10 in +/- if that matters to anyone. Dr. Drej was a beast last year.

Amount of ppl trying to sneak their team's 4th/5th rounders into this thread is hilarious. Just follow the OP's rules for crying out loud.

What about guys who weren't even drafted? Flyers have gotten three good ones recently- Matt Read, Michael Raffl, Pierre Eduard Bellemare were all signed as undrafted free agents.

Tampa wins this one too. We got Tyler Johnson.

I think the Leafs might have a couple of gems, though they're more recent draft picks so are still a few years away (assuming they actually make the NHL).

Viktor Loov and Andreas Johnson are both 7th rounders (2012/2013).

Johnson won Rookie of the Year in the SHL last year ahead of his draft-mate and 1st round pick Wennberg. He currently has 12 goals (17 points) in 29 games in the SHL as a 20 year old, which is pretty good, and had 6 pts (3G/3A) in 7 games at the WJCs last year, and 13 pts in 15 games total at the WJCs.

Viktor Loov played top pairing minutes for MODO last season as a 21 year old, posting 12 points in 42 games. He's since transitioned well to NA, and as a rookie on the Marlies has 8 points in 22 games and is a + player on a struggling team.

These guys aren't locks for the NHL and they're not as good as our top prospect Nylander. But considering where they were drafted, both of their trajectories are VERY good IMO, definitely exceeding expectations.

My all late round pick team (5th onwards since 2009):

Ondrej Palat -- Andrew Shaw -- Brendan Gallagher
Jesper Fast -- Anders Lee -- Mark Stone
Gabriel Bourque -- Marcus Kruger -- Seth Griffith
Jordan Nolan -- Erik Haula -- Mike Hoffman
Tomas Vincour

Zach Trotman -- Dalton Prout
Connor Carrick -- John Klingberg
Jyrki Jokipakka -- Josh Manson
Petteri Lindbohm

Darcy Kuemper
Frederik Andersen

Though guys like Almquist, Horak and Loov are probably better players than some of the guys listed I tried to only use players currently or recently in the NHL.

2009: Darcy Kuemper, Jordan Nolan

2010: Dalton Prout, Mark Stone, Jesper Fast

2011: Josh Manson, Ondrej Palat
