Was... Maurice right? Turning Laine into powerforward eventually? And this has been just the tip of the iceberg?

Again...was Maurice right?!

No this is all natural progression of a player, he would be where he is today physically with or without Maurice. Had he been played to his strengths from the start til now, he'd just have a lot more hardware to show for by now, maybe the team would too. He's always been trending to be a physical beast power forward once he grows into his frame, none of that has changed, still trending strongly that way.

No, Maurice was not right. Laine would be physically in this situation even if he had been allowed to play a proper offensive role with offensive players. The difference is, he'd have a calder and a couple of rockets and Jets might have a banner for the cup.

Whats the biggest difference this year? Really enjoying watchin this dude play.

Role, linemates. He is playing like an offensive fwd in an offensive role. When ever he played with Little, he was the defensive forward not engaged in forecheck.

He is finally used as what he does best and the results are as expected. There were times before when he had the right center and role, this is just continuance to that. Maurice finally let him go do what he can do, maybe because they are paying him big bucks now so you can't sandbag anymore.

That was a Laine goal if I ever saw one. There's always some flash in the pan like James Neal or Jeff Skinner, you won't see them scoring those kinds of goals because they're beneficiaries of other players. Laine is here to stay, he's been scoring those kinds of goals since his debyt and his prime is just beginning.

Those first two years were so exciting every time he stepped on the ice. Lets forget about last year and enjoy what we're seeing today!

Work hard

Agreed......really like seeing the improvement in Laines maturity and work ethic.......it's showing results on the ice. He's saying all the right things since he signed and he's delivering it on the ice. Laine this year to-date is significantly better then Laine in his first three years. Guessing some self reflection, maturing and advice from others possibly including Pmo chat this summer has helped.
