Not really.... Malkin or Ovechkin could do it and there'd be much more hype than Kucherov.
Yea I think you guys are right. I think it has more to do with us being in a small market.

If Chicago makes the playoffs it should go to Kane if he stays 2nd in points
The Hart is not the most points trophy, get over it
When has McDavid been at the level Kucherov is at now?
"McDavid is McDavid" is a player who was the favorite for the Ross before this season but hardly an overwhelming one based on the previous two years unless you assume he would improve given his age.
It is nothing but baseless speculation that McDavid could be where Kucherov is right now.
McDavid has always been better than Kucherov. McDavid is the one who generates the play 90% of the time which is also why he is so good at center. A 3 game anomoly doesnt automatically make Kucherov better especially when we look at who is the main cog relative to their teammates.
So there is no amount of offense that Kucherov could generate that will make him better than McDavid?
If he does this again next year it will be in consideration. So there is no amount of offense that Kucherov could generate that will make him better than McDavid?

So you agree that Kucherov has been better this year, he just needs to do it again to cement him as being the better player.
He’s having the best season in the NHL this year. I would give him the Hart as well as all other relevant trophies if his pace continues. So you agree that Kucherov has been better this year, he just needs to do it again to cement him as being the better player.
So a good player is having a great year on one of the hottest teams of the year or years for bthat matter and now he is the best player? He is playing on a team were they have 8 30 point players .not to mention they have the top 3 guys in power play points .but your right tampa is a product of kucherov not kucherov is a product of tampa.
By your logic Jamie Benn was the best player in the NHL in his prime to right?
Seems unfair from my perspective. The teams aren't balanced when one team gets players to sign for 25% off.And signed for 9.5 next 8 years. Cheap
We should have one GM run all 31 teams.Seems unfair from my perspective. The teams aren't balanced when one team gets players to sign for 25% off.
(and my team overpays RFAs 15%).

But muh endorsements!Or take the lowest tax bracket and allow all teams to operate under that bracket.
The reason tampa can sign such good long term deals is because a player at 9.5 a year in tampa is the same as say a player making 11 million in toronto.
It took a while for this thread to turn into whining about taxes but it finally happened.Or take the lowest tax bracket and allow all teams to operate under that bracket.

And yet Kucherov is still better. Tampa scored 5 goals last night, yet somehow Kucherov got 0 points. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!McDavid's last 82 games: 49-76-125
Kucherov's last 82 games: 37-85-122
In the last calendar year, TB has outscored Edm 319-231, or 88 more goals.
But but... McDavid would have gotten 0 points too!!!And yet Kucherov is still better. Tampa scored 5 goals last night, yet somehow Kucherov got 0 points. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!

He probably wouldn't take 9.5 because he knew that since no one else wanted to put the team before cash, why should he?Not whining. Its the truth. Do you honestly think kucherov would of taken 9.5 million in toronto? Knowing that that 9.5 would be around 5 million after taxes. While in tampa that 9.5 million is more like 6.5 million after taxes.
He isn't have a great year, he's strung together multiple elite seasons...and if we are living in the present, he's performing better than McDavid
