They probably promised him a nice multiyear deal next summer if he goes cheap this time around.

Kruger would be dumb to believe that

No NHL player should trust any GM to promise them contract a year from now. You really think if Kruger blows out his knee that Stan will give him a nice raise and extension?

The alternative is getting traded. Maybe, maybe just maybe Kruger decided to chance it?

It was inevitable after the Versteeg trade. Glad to have Krugs back. He's a very important role player.

Well that D group has 3 top pairing caliber defenders , A lousy 3rd pairing PMD , A young #6 who is injury prone , A rookie and an ECHL defender at best

So an injury to any of the big 3 and Hawk season is over

That is what happens when your GM gives away a guy like Johns and rewards constant failure we have seen from #5

No, it features 3 top pairing guys, a top 5 PMD dman, a young but impressive bottom pairing player, a young underwhelming bottom pairing Dman and a rookie (assuming he meant Gustaffson)

Same kind of problems most teams have. Not every team is 6 deep at D.

I would not be surprised if they signed Rozsival again at minimum if his foot is OK. Not saying I want this, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Well Rozy would be instant upgrade over #5

No he would not. He got worse year after year. He would have only gotten slower next year (see Handzus in his final year).

Do you ever just sit back and look back year after year and see how you call the team a failure and say it won't go anywhere and should sell, see it then go somewhere and either win a cup or nearly win a cup, then see yourself look like an idiot, and then wonder why you do the same thing the next year?

Rozy at his worst is still upgrade over Runbad

There is no defending the play of #5 a guy who in playoffs was benched in favor of Rozy (Guy you hate) , A corpse (Timonen) , A journeyman from Europe (Cumiskey) and eventually an UDFA rookie who was injured most of season (TVR)

I thought Pokka was a possibility. Maybe he makes the jump?

Wouldn't his contract make him non viable option at this time because of Hawks cap issues

There is no defending g the play of Rundblad? AT +17? I guess you fail t9 7 Der stand math...and somehow value Seabrook's -3 as worthy of a $5.8 million investment when the +17 of Rundblad which would have been even better had he played more games is not valued despite his much much cheaper cap hit? Many will say that Seabrook was worth the price because he clipped the switch h to actually car g and trying g and thus his greatness for the playoffs whereas we all know you cannot rely on Rundblad when the antenna goes up in playoffs. ..but first you gotta get in...So Seabrook mailing it in for 82 games and then finally showing up for 20 plus games in playoffs is risky business because not trying in regular season risks not even getting in if everyone else mails it in per Seabrook's example in regular season play...but obviously a +30 or better had Rundblad played all the games in regular season Would help us get in..+30 or more is better than -3...simple math...so.please no more crapoy about Rundblad not being able to play as an NHL ER. ..stats say he can ..at least in regular season play.Maybe not a shutdown dman ...but gosh we score a lot when he plays shifts!

If Kruger was concern about that then why not go an solicit a offer sheet from another team knowing the Hawks couldn't match the offer?

Kruger clearly wants to stay in Chicago and if giving Stan every chance to make it happen. This one year deal is a placeholder deal to give Stan time to free up more salary to offer Kruger a long deal.
