Hope it's not true!
For SC Bern, where he signed, this would be a tragedy...

Oh, oh..... I'm betting Bergevin's gonna be calling.
Can already see it...
Sign Versteeg cheap for the 3rd line, move Shaw to the 2nd LW.

I really thought he'd return to Carolina after the success that he found. Vancouver could make some sense.

I'd take him in Edmonton if they really want to play Draisaitl on the wing with Nuge. Certainly wouldn't hurt having 4 centres who can play in the top 9. Whether he'd be willing to sign here or not is the question lol.

Edit: derp I though Versteeg had played centre in recent years as well as wing. Guess I was completely off looking at his face-off stats in recent years.

Pitt probably sticks with the kids but theres about 1.1M dollars to giveaway if he wants the round trip he's doing with SC contenders to continue.

And you're assuming this based on..?

What old ex-hawks player did Bergevin ever sign?

NJ could use Versteeg on a third line with Zacha to generate possession. They have 10 contract spots available and tons of cap space. I see him signing in NJ.

Apparently he was given NHL offers before deciding to go to Switzerland.
He had great possession numbers last year so if he's unable to get things worked out overseas I'm sure there are a handful of teams that could still use his services: Edmonton, Vancouver, Chicago and Montreal come to mind.

Hawks should call him up and offer him a 1 yr deal at 1.25M. Could work out well for both sides

Hawks need scoring depth after losing TT and Shaw while Steeger if he can have quality year should rebuild his potential FA value for summer of 2017

Buffalo should throw a contract at him, 1 or 2 years as long as he's cheaper. After all if we aren't in playoff contention he seems to fetch quality pieces in deadline deals.
