The Calgary Flames locked up defenceman Kris Russell to a two-year deal with an average annual value of $2.26 million.

The 26-year-old defenceman has four goals and 20 points in 44 games this season.

This is Russell's first year in Calgary after having spent the first six years of his career split between the Columbus Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues.

I must be numbed to the dollar values - I misread the OP and thought it was $4.5 million/AAV and didn't immediately hate the deal.

As in good signing. I have seen the majority of the games this season. I basically barfed in joy and ate it quickly so it wouldn't look like disrespect.
