Worth noting as well that Kudryavtsev was not getting top-unit PP time. It would appear that he'd get a big boost there next year, although SSM's overall team is going to be substantially worse.

He will be getting all of the big minutes and PP time which can’t be a bad thing . The Greyhounds are a great and well run organization and I’m sure Kyle Raftis will find a way to field a competitive team that will potentially win a round at the bare minimum .

I still can’t believe Raftis doesn’t have an NHL executive gig yet . He’s a young GM only 35 years old and a rising star . I would t mind the Canucks hiring him into there front office for a scouting gig

The Knights haven’t been as strong since the OHL cracked down on the whole “here’s a bunch of secret money” thing.

Yes - the Knights were great at recruitment and 'magically' getting the best players to play for them, but these were front-line guys from Day 1 generally and not guys 'developed' in their system.

Yeah you have a point , I guess I’m looking at history because I used to have seasons tickets to the knights before I moved to Van

Well they have found some great players with later picks , Evan Bouchard wasn’t magically found he was drafted 17th overall and that same draft they found Robert Thomas 26th overall , Mitchell Marner wasn’t magically found as he was drafted 19th overall , Liam Foudy was 18th overall , Alex Formenton was an 11th round pick the same year they drafted Bouchard and Thomas , Evan More recently Luke Evangelista was drafted 14th overall . And these players aren’t the ones they paid to report like the Matthew Tkachuks , the Max Jones , Christian Dvoraks , Michael Mccarons, and the Jonathan Grudens of the world .

These are actually players they drafted and developed with good scouting , let’s even use Bo Horvat as an example as a player who they drafted 9th overall and he is now our captain and will be a Canucks legend

My point is the London Knights didn’t magically get these players on the above list , they actually developed them with layer first round picks and didn’t pay they to skip NCAA and report

Kudryavstev has another assist early in the second for the Greyhounds tonight.

Using my usual method (simple stat watching), he's off to the most interesting start among Canucks prospects.: 2/6/8 in 13 gp for the bottom-feeding Soo. 19th in the OHL for defencemen. 3d in scoring on the Soo (top d-man).

Definitely promising. That's like 2nd or 3rd rounder production.

Great pickup by you guys. I had him as a late 2nd or early 3rd round pick.

He’s a smart defender with a very nice wrist shot that reminds me of some guy in Toronto with a shitty pornstache. He should be running the PP here in the Soo next season (depending on Andrew Gibson). He has some awesome stick handling skills, can skate (it’s a pre-requisite here in the Soo), and very calm.

Kudryavstev managed an assist and an even +/- in tonight's 7-2 loss to Oshawa. He's now 9th in points for defencemen in the OHL, with lots of those points coming from power-play assists.

Can you tell us anything at all about how he he looks from your perspective? How's his 5 on 5 defending? Does he see a lot of time against first lines? Is he quarterbacking the PP?

He’s fine. He’s on their first pairing, and the coaches here in the Soo like to give the top guys lots of ice time. Sometimes too much. They play against everyone.

The Soo is a train wreck this year, but all of us here in the Soo saw it coming. This team refuses to rebuild, but that might be an ownership decision (playoffs are presumably where they make a profit).

Unfortunately he’s in the weird OHL rule where he might be ineligible to play here in the Soo next season. Teams in that league are only allowed two imports, unless one of them are a 1st round NHL pick, then they can have three. He’s not one, but Noel Nordh (who the Soo has the rights to) might be one. Unless one of them is a overager. Then they can only have two.

I’d suggest you have him as your “prospect you love” but keep expectations low. Like I have done with William von Barnekow-Lofberg of the Sabres

Thanks for that great (and prompt!) update. Much appreciated. (I'll probably pester you again in twenty games or so.)

No problem. I’d suggest getting a jersey of him just because of how awesome it is to see a jersey of someone out in the wild. Even if he never ends up playing for the Canucks.

Like sure, a Hughes jersey is awesome, but that’s common.

It does seem as though I'm the only one interested in this prospect (which is fine, obviously), but I'll point out that with a goal today on the power play Kudryavstev has now moved into 7th for OHL defensemen scoring. Of those ahead of him, one is younger and undrafted. All the rest are older (a couple went in the previous year's draft), and all were picked higher (the lowest was a 4th rounder).

I mentioned that Kudryavstev has been racking up lots of power play assists. Interestingly, that's on a woeful power play, 18th in a 20-team league.

The Canucks have to be happy with how this 7th round pick is doing. Hell, maybe he'd go in the fifth round in a redraft. So much excitement in Canuck land!

Tbh I think he was somewhat of a "value" pick. EP had him in their top 120 or so prospects, so definitely a guy worth drafting.

He also got good reviews at the young prospects, including from posters here, as I recall. If he keeps up his current pace, he'll probably start getting more attention, but it's understandable that a 7th rounder is going to have to go some distance before anybody gets excited.

He seems an ok enough look for a 7th rounder but you have to have perspective and there are all kinds of undrafted undersized D in the CHL putting up decent point totals. People would be losing it here if we’d drafted Hudson Thornton or Grayden Siepmann.
