^^^ Sure, very worthwhile topic loppa.... as for Moscow, a little early in the season to be expecting huge turnouts, and no reason to panic huh?
Not that they would anyway if even thats what they averaged all year & into next. Hell, its not even September yet.

So, basically you suggest that it's too early to worry about attendance?

There may be some logic in that, as it is still basically summer to many people. So, maybe that explains why attendance is not very high in say Helsinki... it may be why Slovan has not sold out its hope opener. But...
...I look at say Astana's attendance... they sold out. I guess one could make the case that it's an under-capacity old arena... but, still, I would expect/hope higher attendance...

On a side note - this early season start could be a killer for overall attendance figures... :/

Here's another big thing... SKA has only some 10,000 at its home game... about 2,000 less than the average last season...

Don't start your season in August, nobody cares about Hockey, probably even the players themselves question why they're playing. What a waste of time for people to go into a rink and watch meaningless Hockey when you can enjoy the outdoors.

Last season's attendance thread here.

Golov's post about last regular season attendance here.

Yeah, definitely hard to expect good attendance on summer working days.

but it is only 1 week earlier as last year:)
and other league teams also already play champion leage:)
and yes, i enjoy outdoors, but at 19:30 when games start it is already cooler and i enjoy game..
only problem, we slovan have 5 games home in a row, but i know scheduling is difficult and must minimize travelling..

but of course it has influence, that not all people go to games as later in winter.., and therefore attendance is lower..

Last season's attendance low for Slovan was 7240... this season it starts off like this... game 1: 9270 , and then game 2: 7218.

Dinamo Moscow starts game 1 with ... game 1: 6018 , and then game 2: 4561 ... this is much worse than last season, and scares me, considering that they have a pretty big new arena.

Dynamo Moscow will easily get to at least 8k average. It's August, it's Kuznya. They will benefit from the big arena in games against Moscow teams, SKA, and other big shots. So don't read too much into it. And overall it's going fine so far.

Holy *****... Spartak had 7011 at their home opener, and that's against a lower team like Lada!

That's not their opener.

Sorry, you are right. The KHL website is still taking some time for me to get used to it.

Their home opener had 7811... so, next game: 7011... I would have never thought that they would have such a higher attendance than Dinamo... how do you explain this high attendance for them? Did people miss the team, or what?

part of it appears to be from good marketing, more teams need involvement like this:

Zagreb had 3000 fans on sunday and friday.

Doubt it'll be more than 3000 tomorrow. Not official numbers, those said there were 5900 on opening night, while it was more like 4500... or 4000. I was there.

So we waiting for Barys Arena, maybe Zagreb Arena, and better attendance Slovan, Dinamo Moscow, and Riga.

What makes you think that there will be any games in the big Zagreb Arena? There were not last year.

Yes it does. I said these are not official numbers. I was there and you could see half or more of the rink empty.

Also there are no >5000 chairs in Dom sportova.

Sunday fuller side of the stands.

Actually the capacity of Dom Sportova is 6 400 according to the Russian wikipedia. The English wikipedia puts it at 6 500. The Serbian wikipedia puts it at 7 500 - but this figure is for concerts.

I think your 5 000 estimate is a bit low...

Also, pictures can be misleading. People tend to get up and walk around during the breaks. So, at the start of every period there will be more empty seats of course.

Yes it's misleading. I'll be at the game tomorrow I'll take pictures and you'll see. Jesus christ...

It's easy to calculate seating actually. It has 13 rows that go to Sectors A-H with i think 40 seats each or less.

I believe a worker there once told me there are 4099 seats there. + some mobile stands with 50 people incl VIP section is lower than 5k for sure.

I can edit Wikipedia anytime, so what?

You can vandalize wikipedia, but such vandalism will be corrected. All sources indicate that it has 6 400 to 6 500 for hockey.

One more which shows 6 500. http://www.eurohockey.com/arena/1209-dom-sportova-zagreb.html

Here's an article in your own language which says 6,000. http://www.jutarnji.hr/odusevili-pr...u-prva-pobjeda-nove-sezone-khl-lige-/1406654/ and they say "6,000 gledatelja ".

Now, interesting, hrhokej says it has 6,000 tops. http://www.hrhokej.net/index.php/20...playground/151-khl-doigravanje/3-dom-sportova

So idk... but more than 5000 for sure.

also todays game against SIBIR has still like 3,000 seats available, which means 7,000 there so far....
i would say responsible is the hot wheater (although inside is perfect aircondition!!) , and still holiday is main reason, not the performance so much as after last 6:0 it should be well now..
anyway, 7.000 would be great for about 2/3 of all KHL teams to have attendance generally:)

Why aren't you listening to what I'm saying. I worked in the club. I wrote so big numbers during EBEL. Attendance maximum went from 4500, to 5000 to 5900 or more.

It was never so full. It can't be. There are 4100 seats + 300/500 maximum of portable seats around the ice. You can put in more people but not legally -> its not safe.
