Good signing, gives us another insurance policy in net if injuries pile up again. Wonder if he can round out as a proper backup sometime soon given his age and development. At some point in the next year or two, he, Soogard and Merilainen need to start differentiating themselves if any of them are going to become a legit NHLer.

For what it's worth, I preferred Mando over Gustavsson at the rookie tournament in 2018. I find he has the perfect shape for a goalie. 6'4, large but not too thick (like Lehner), reminds me of Murray's appearance in front of the net

Sure I did a complete 180' on Gus during the 2020-21 season as the totally "broke out" but while Mando won't be a star, I could see him getting a few back-up roles along the way, or at least be a 3rd string goalie (they end up playing with so many goalie injuries)
