Watching last night's game reminded me of Paille. A couple of breakaways with his speed, didn't finish, yet still got a garbage goal around the net.
I don't know if he has real offensive upside or just going through a lucky streak at the moment but I'd leave him on Krejci's line to start the playoffs since he adds speed and defensive responsibility.
This where I am at.

The points last night were a cherry on top of a very solid two way performance by the kid and that line was dangerous.

Ride it out. He's giving them even more roster flexibility. Hope he can continue more of what we saw last night.

I also think it's a real benefit to Debrusk to have a winger on his opposite flank that can skate at the same speed and pace that he does. I don't think adding a slower more plodding player on RW really works with Debrusk's straight-line, high tempo style.

yes

only one spot open for that "other" player and that is taken by Krejci

I would also

but unfortunately you know Cassidy has a soft spot for vets

they will likely insert Heinen , take out Kuhlman

Except Heinen isn't a vet yet so it's putting in a young player who is better for another young player. Now if Cassidy rolls out Stemp, we have an issue

You are saying Kuhlman is better than Heinen? GD will have fits if he sees this lol

but in reality Heinen has played solid hockey and has playoff experience. So no doubt he would get a chance over Kuhlaman

this said, Heinen has rarely played on the 2nd line with Debrusk and Krejci.... so Kuhlman has a small adv in this regard

still think he has much softer hands than Paille, that pass alone to Jake was one I`m not sure Danny Boy could have made

Not sure, like you that he has a ton of offensive potential however, he`s a guy who will get his if he continues standing in front of the net and be willing to take the punishment, he`ll bang his share home.

Endless motor, plays with some grit, only thing is I demand he changes his number, far too often I get caught thinking Marchand is out there double shiftin`

I agree

not sure about "ton of offensive potential"?

I can see him be a regular 40 point player. Even reach up to 50

I dig those little touch passes we are seeing more and more from him...

I don't think he is a finished product and just starting to get his feet wet. He will probably be even stronger next season, so that can only help his game all around

agreed, maybe I should have been a touch more clear, I too think he could fall into that point total once he gains full time duties, really meant he`s not a guy who`ll produce 60-70 pts but love the kids motor, busts his arse out there every shift.

Yeah, I just don't see this right now. You get too excited over players too quickly.

Could that be Senyshyn next year?

It wouldn't surprise me if that's what management envisioned when drafting both players in 2015. Debrusk and Senyshyn would complement each other very well, I think. Having Krejci center them next year would be a good transition to, possibly, Studnicka taking over that role.

He’s a better option than Nordstrom and Backes, so he should definitely be in the lineup. I’m not against keeping him on Krejci’s line and see if they can build on last night, but at the very least he should be on the third line over Backes.

No Heinen is miles better than Kuhlman at this point. Just that it wouldn't be a case of sitting a young player in favor of a crappy vet like we've seen so many times in the past. It is playing a better young player over another.

I think they need to find a way to keep him in the lineup. His speed would be particularly useful against Toronto. I'd rather have him in there instead of Nordstrom or Backes. The problem is, you need Nordstrom for PK and they're not going to sit a vet like Backes for a rookie in Kuhlman. Maybe Backes gets exposed early in the series and you put Kuhlman in there?:dunno:

Agreed on Backes

If he gets exposed or Bruins look slow (team speed)

Cassidy may not have a choice but insert K2

I certainly hope he's better. But just like I won't call Frederik a bust after 13 scoreless games, I'm not going to think Kuhlman is going to be a top 6 star after 9. But I do think his play merits continuing with him in that role and see if he can handle it in the playoffs.

And I don't know other people (not you ODAAT) think it is either Heinen or Kuhlman. Nordstrom is the one who should be benched. He has not been the same since his return from injury.

Kuhlman is actually just as effective on the PK and defensive side of things, to be honest. If I were the coach and had to pick between one of Kuhlman or Nordstrom in a must-win situation, I’m taking Kuhlman. Sure, he might make a “rookie” mistake here and there, but Nordstrom really hasn’t provided much of anything at all since returning from his injury, IMO.

Oh, I agree with you on Kuhlman, but Nordstrom is second on the team in SH TOI/GP, so I just don't see them sitting him, especially with Kuraly out.

If a second line with Kuhlman on it is productive and effective defensively, what a luxury to be able to roll out a 3rd line of Heinen-Coyle-Mojo. Then the 4th lone is optimized as well.

If anyone sits in the Toronto series it would be a slow moving player. That is not Kuhlman, kid has surprised me, good for him and us.

A caller on Felger and Mazz suggests that Heinen is gone due to Kuhlman. I wonder if this is a possibility?
