Guhle - Mailloux
Romanov - Barron
Harris - Xhekaj
Struble - Norlinder
Fairbrother - Brook

Pretty sick prospect pool on D

The depth is decent, but it's lacking in high end talent. In comparison, Colorado, in the summer of 2019, still had Makar eligible for his rookie year on top of drafting Byram.

Having Makar and Byram is out of this world good.

Having Romanov, Mailloux, and Baron is still really good - plus Guhle as the stay at home guy, and all the depth.

The offensive guy is the only thing missing. Barron and Mailloux have a shot...

I mean ya, we might not have that game breaking D prospect but we have the makings of a legit top 4. Obviously I wouldn’t pass on a game breaker if we can get one but those guys are hard to find. I’m content with Romanov, Mailloux, Guhle and Barron as the top 4 of the future. Can get a specialist type for the bottom pair if we want to.

That happens once every 30 years. Not really a good standard.

It is the standard though, as this is what the competition for a cup has for the next few years. If your competition for the cup has a prime Crosby/Malkin center line, you're just as likely have to consider that. Obviously it's not possible to replicate, but we don't currently have a high end D in any level of the organization either.

You think Barron has a better shot of being the offensive guy than Guhle?

I'm not an expert, so my opinion isn't an opinion, just summarizing what I'm hearing inbthe media. But yes I have heard some say Guhle could possibly have offense at the NHL level. But I think he's a long shot for him to be.

Chelsea, QC
I watch mostly Q games here in Gatineau, trying to find a comparable ex first round pick impact/playing style.

Is he like a Beaulieu in terms of playing but better defensively ? (talking about up to 20 yo and not beaulieu today of course)

He was the best Dmen in the Q last year no doubt there

He's 2nd in the AHL in pts for Dmen under 21

And 5th for the PPG

2nd for +/- (not my favorite stats but..)

Guhle is far more of an offensive player than Barron. That's not to say Barron is bad offensively.. but he's is more of the shutdown guy with fantastic transition and skating. He can maybe develop into a 2nd wave PP guy. His points will come from his quick and clean transitions and breakouts, rather than any actual offensive skills.

Getting Barron wasn't something I thought Habs could even do. Adding him to the pool only makes it that much better. Bigger, faster, meaner and far more skilled than anything we've had in the past from a prospect perspective and with a million picks, I imagine we'll add even more after the draft.

For such a shitty season, these last few weeks have been pretty great as the sun has come out and the thunderclouds are dissipating. I see a future again.

Barron is a RHD and was #3 on the Avs prospect list this summer. Here is his scouting report.

That’s your prospect list and that should have been stated from your opening sentence and not generically as “the Avs prospect list”.

We all like the player but let’s be fair, I’ve seen on Twitter that a ratings source had him 9th. Obviously, it doesn’t matter as much since the player could be ranked higher when he joins another org., as will likely be the case as a Hab.

Avs fans aren't high on him and think a late 1st is more valuable
I wouldn't say they aren't high on him, they just aren't upset losing him... but have you seen their defense? A 1st round pick is more valuable because that player is probably 2-4 years away from the NHL when they might need that piece. They need Lehkonen now.. and their need for Barron is pretty low.
Yeah that all fans say when a guy leaves lol
Really? Lots of fans complaining today in numerous trades...
