High risk low rewards
I think he picked players with good enough reputation to flip them at tdl and bad enough actual play to go hard after top pick.

Good signings for Vancouver, they need to fill up their line-up, and Gagner, Del Zotto, Nilsson are good and relatively still young players.
Daley to Detroit seems also solid. Pavelec to NYR, that's helluva surprising and will be very interesting how it plays out.
All depending on term and money, obviously.
If Girardi is getting $3M, then MacDonald is tradeable if we eat half the contract. Because I don't see much difference - both are 3rd pair guys.
Switching in Pav for Raanta is like switching a tasty wagyu steak for a bucket of mixed bug entrails.
This is a FA tracker in case anyone wants to follow signings as they are confirmed: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/free-agency

Happy to have Sharp back in Chicago
Good vet LW for 3rd line
For whatever reason he seemed to always play well against the Flyers.
Yes, they are going to have to change the title of the TSN program from Free Agent Frenzy to Free Agent Verification and Confirmation... ZZZZZZZZ........

The Alzner contract really isn't dreadful. GMs have gotten much better at controlling themselves when it comes to UFA's
