I'll wait until the actual numbers come out, but hopefully this puts the Markstrom contract in some perspective. Markstrom is even more overpaid for someone in a similar position, and some people wanted his extension to be even longer.

Those salaries look too reasonable, apply the Benning negotiation tax (1.5x) and you've got:

I also want to remind everyone why I wasn't overly happy to see Vegas take Sbisa. I gave two reasons:

1) It would mean that Chris Tanev was no longer likely to be traded at the draft. Check.

2) It meant Benning will have more cap space to sign someone to an awful contract.

Fearful that point 2 will come true tomorrow.

No reason in particular. Was just the name that came into Benning's head at the time. I think he was told he could name the pick and he said "You'll Let Me?" and it just stuck.

The Canucks are still talking to Rodin. If he comes back, I don't see the Canucks bringing in a guy like Yakupov or Da Costa.

If Rodin walks, however, I could see us using his spot on one of those guys.

Lol....If Sbisa was being paid like a 5-6 depth d-man he'd be a better option for the Canucks than Del Zotto who's likely to get Sbisa's money from the Canucks....not really a fan of this signing by the Canucks, but beggars can't be choosy I guess.
