So you are glad we are not trying to win yet we have an old core now with the last trade.

That's puzzling to me.

The only way the trade for Weber is great is if we go all in now.

100%, every player has a price. And right now they're being overpaid. We have some big renewals coming up...lets not handicap ourselves with immovable contracts like the ones Nielson, Lucic, Ladd and Eriksson got

Quite the Weber effect, we offered more money to Lucic than Edmonton but Lucic chose to go to Edmonton out of all places.

Some do some don't. Lucic said his loyalty to Peter is what made him sign in Edmonton at the end of the day.

Yeah, that I can see. Old relationships count, which is why the Habs were apparently close on Lucic, with Gallagher and Price as bait.

When it comes to attracting free-agents our players probably have some clout, but Bergevin probably can't jump ahead of other GMs who have much longer relationships and histories.
