I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. They had an opportunity to get the 2 points, even with the injuries. Oh well. next game.

who cares, it's one point vs an excellent eastern team, on the road.

Kind of weird, but after the first game, and the Toronto game, Fowler has quietly gotten back up to an even rating for the season.

The ducks are at 7.2% on the PP with 4 goals in 55 opportunities. They have played 14 games. Which equals out to 840 minutes. They have also been shorthanded(the penalty kill is also awful) 47 times. That is 102 instances of uneven strength. I know with majors and shortened power plays it won't be exactly this but bear with me here.

That's approximately 204 minutes out of the 840 leaving 636. If we sum this up into 2 minute stanzas or "opportunities" that is 318. The Ducks have 43 goals this year, 39 at even strength. This means the ducks have a 12.26% chance at scoring in any given 2 minute period of even strength.

The Power Play statistically gives the ducks 5% less of a chance to score.:handclap:

Ok, if anyone ever complains about our commentators being annoying homers again... Just remember the last 2 Ducks games on NhL network.

Obviously the PP is awful, but 5 on 5 we're doing great, and that's just as if not more important. Just hope they can get it going at some point.

I can't explain the PP not working. The talent is there but it just looks wrong. Having multiple guys being misused doesn't help. And when was the last time our PP worked using 4 forwards on a unit?

Lost point because of a dumb penalty, and a terrible PP. Something has to be done with the PP ASAP otherwise this is the 1st of many lost points because of it, you can only sustain this level of 5v5 play for so long.

And not sure where the whole Ducks didn't deserve 2 points come from, Boston only played for about 15 minutes in the 2nd period, other then that it was just about all Anaheim, just couldn't take the chances. It's frustrating to drop a point in a game like this.

You knew it was going to happen...the power kill finally cost this team a game. it's one thing to be 30th, but 4 goals in 55 opportunities is just not acceptable, it's no longer a slow start, it's a massive strategic disadvantage, and bruce needs to either remove himself as the PP coach or draw up some actual plays

And despite of the powerkill the team's still 2nd in the league standings. How many points more would we have if our PP was average, say, 20 %? 11 goals in 55 opportunities and a few more wins down the road, probably.

Let's solve the PP right here right now. Do you think we have the right players doing it?

First unit:

Maroon-Bonino-Perry
Getzlaf-Vatanen

Who should we change? Or/and should we play more below the goal line or from the blue line? More traffic in front of the net? What was different when our PP was on the best ones in the league? Teemu on the left point for sure, but what else?

Teemu's never played the point AFAIK. I honestly don't know why we can't go back to what was working even last year. Getz on the left half wall. Bonino on the right. Perry with the net front presence and some combo of Vats/Fowler/Lindholm at the points.

IMO the main issue with our powerplay isn't so much the setup as it is the decision making. Far too many times, especially on 5-3's they try to pass the puck into the net essentially. They just need to simplify things. Quit trying to be so fancy and shoot the puck when you have a lane. Let Perry/Bonino/whoever clean up some lose change instead of trying to make a pretty play.
