Why would you look at the last 5 years when judging the value of 7th round picks?

All of them are projects that will take a long time to make it, if they ever do.
Ok, in terms of guys who have actually made it longer than a cup of coffee, in the last ten years, there have been 19 players.

So the trade is basically Senyshyn (who was on waivers earlier this year) for Brown, with our 6th round pick moving up about 10ish spots to a late 5th.

This is my proudest day as an NHL GM.

(Note - I am not actually an NHL GM. Nor do I believe that I am smarter than one. But, this is still better than I expected for Josh "walked by Brett-not-Bobby-Orr-Kulak" Brown)

Josh Brown, who is said to not even be a NHL level, to return a 5th is actually ok.

Surprised you were expecting more than a fifth, most where were hoping for a seventh at best. You must be high on Brown.

Unless Senyshyn has negative value (which is possible if he indeed cleared waivers once this year), this is a good trade, as I expected a 7th rounder for J. Brown at best.

In any case Senyshyn has a name that destined him to play with the Senators. Whether that's the Belleville Senators or the Ottawa Senators, time will tell...
