They, for sure, won't be out of the race by the deadline but just imagine what they could get for Bautista and Edwin
Both have 10/5 rights. It may not be as much as you think.
First quote is such ********. All he had on his resume when his 5 years extension came up was 1 good year. 12M/yr was more than reasonable.
Yeah but his inability to judge his worth in the past shouldn't be reflected on this contract.
Normally this is where I'd say 'I don't know how much of a market there will be for a 36 year old DH' but hell Boston will throw all the money at him (or Edwin) probably so it is a bit of a tough spot
Or they could keep him and he could leave.
Bautista's last contract was a downright steal so he deserves his payday.
The fact he made it known what it'd take to get it done is encouraging. Tells me he likes it there and wants to stay.
I disagree, I think there is a good chance he is asking for an absurd amount that Toronto could never afford to pay him, and this just saves face.
That would be irresponsible I think. You need to get something for him.
