This isn't a fluke, IMO. He legitimately hasn't ever been given a chance to play Top 6 minutes in the NHL. He's scored everywhere else he has played. The point per game mark won't continue, but he'll score enough. He has been incredible this season and his chemistry with Jagr might keep those two together. Plus, he's skilled enough to play the PP which is where slumping players still manage to pick up points. I would say 40-45 points. He's a good player.

Gotta admit I looked him up on hockeydb a few days ago just to see where he came from.

Will most likely play with Smith and Trocheck once Huberdeau comes back. It helps he has Barkov and Jagr to play with right now, but that will make two pretty solid lines for the Panthers.

He's been excellent, but his chemistry with Barkov and Jagr isn't. That being said, he is the best player on that line RN but Barkov and Jagr aren't producing.

Marchessault is a great example perseverance.

He was a 12th round pick in his 2nd year of eligibility in the QMJHL and he was only picked by Quebec because he was a local player. And now he's really making it in the NHL at 25.

Did Tampa offer him more then league min salary? Thats what Floridas paying him and Im pretty sure he would've stayed in Tampa for an extra $200k. He's not an idiot.

Even if TB did offer him more, he would have been silly to take it. He was NOT going to crack the top 2 lines in TB, especially with Drouin emerging in the playoffs. He was going to be in a grinder/checker role without the skillset for that position.

Makes much more sense to go somewhere else (even at minimum) and get an opportunity to make bigger money next time up.

That's basically what he said in recent interviews. He said he knew Tampa liked him but they were too crowded on offense.

He'll be bumped to the third line most likely. Jokinen will jump back in with Smith and Trocheck.
