and who said that he hasn't been shopped ? assumptions after assumptions...Sorry, but i think that your nickname says it all about your agenda to discredit Bergevin. And you will turn anything you can - with a lot of imagination- to prove Bergy was/is/will be wrong
Not necessarily, but he missed the ball on Drouin, KK, Byron's contract, Alzner and so many others.

Good moves were turning Galchy into Anderson, although that contract is lenghy and asinine, the Dvorak trade, claiming Byron off waivers, developing Danault, landing Suzuki, trading for Allen, signing Toff, Savard and Hoff and giving up close to nothing to get Petry.

Byron's contract shouldn't be on that list with the others. C'mon. The guy is overpaid by $0.9 mil at the most, and he has been good for us. The Byron hate is a little extreme at times. Alzner and Byron in the same sentence? Dear Lord...

He's overpaid by a lot. Injuries have slowed him down. He's nothing more than a fourth liner making above 3 mil/yr. He should have been dealt when his value was extremely high like Deslauriers.

You are crapping on Byron in a Drouin thread? All the while Drouin makes a whopping 5.5M for doing almost nothing!!! At least Byron played in the playoffs, and actually produced...yes he is a 3-4 liner....probably should make 2.5M but he has produced to get his contract....Drouin did nothing to warrant his 5.5M

I am not. Some of you like to divert the discussion in a different direction. Go back and read my previous comments where I explicitly state that the 5.5 mil. is a waste.

Over the last 3 seasons, Drouin ranks 37th in most primary assists with 0.82/60. All NHL forwards who have played a min of 100 games. His soft style and being afraid of contact is an issue but I think he can still bring some value. With better shooters on our roster, I think he also helps our PP and he will be playing point IMO.

Drouin refusing to go to the AHL under Yzerman should have been a huge flag and we are still stuck with a sizeable cap hit for 2 more seasons.

Bergevin does generally well in the trade area but this one is a serious blemish.

There was a crying need to appease the media. Getting a french speaking player and presenting him as the next Flower was more of a public relations and damage control situation. Sergachev was stalling in his development and the Habs wanted to get some sort of value. Unfortunately, the reverse happened. We can conclude that the Habs development is weak and a true overhaul is required. Losing a top 4 puck moving LD for a soft skilled top 6 winger who has yet to make an impact will go down as one of the worst trades in Habs history, right behind the Roy, Leclair and McDo in that order, surpassing the second Recchi trade to the Flyers.
