Those questions are pretty funny and cut closer to the truth than most interviews. Pretty sure most players, Lupul included, have no problem with it, as they know it's all in fun.
All the "You're here with Tim & Sid, Sportsnet 590 the Fan, talking with the Maple Leafs' Joffrey Lupul" is not their idea. It's a directive from management and the expensive radio consultants who give them feedback (just like your performance review at work). Research shows that because people tend to station jump on commercials, identifying a guest mid-interview catches up those people who have just flipped to the station and gives them a reason to stay and listen. I've heard it called signposting, among other things.
Very little about the way a radio show is structured is accidental these days, but T&S deserve credit for breaking a lot of standard sports radio tropes, most notably the call-in. By fully embracing social media, they've built a large and engaged interactive audience without sounding like every other sports show. Advertisers love that.
