The guy is like a fine wine - steadily improving. He started out as a goalscorer in Finland and was supposed to be the next big thing. He got hurt before his first NHL season and didnt pan out in Buffalo. In Winnipeg his role changed dramatically and he learned to play a shutdown 3-4th line role. Now suddenly he is getting his scoring touch back in Montreal, while playing a very sound defensive game and is a PK-specialist. He has quite an unique skillset and is on pace for his best season at 26yr old. What is he worth when hit the market summer 2021?
He is quite the steal for Montreal. To get him for nothing. Big and strong, on pace for 20 goals. Team really missed him when he was out. Good defensively, top penalty killer.

I feel like he could be a great asset to playoff teams. I know the Habs don’t want to get rid of him but he poses the risk of leaving in a few years. I could see a team like St Louis, Colorado or Vegas coveting him hard! And whichever team losing out going after Kovalchuk.
