I thought it was pretty good. I think everyone knew what was coming, but with the scenes with his boys and the end, I thought it was good.

I still don't know who that bag lady is though. Although I've heard a theory.

I think she's supposed to be the angel of death or something, because thats like the only time she shows up. Is it bad that I had totally forgotten about her? Like completely? I read about her on face book, and all these scenes had totally slipped my mind.

I hated the way it ended, I honestly felt no emotion or anything. I'm not really sure what i expected to happen though. i mean really.

So, I have a tread mill in my room (probably because the two earlier au pairs were both girls, and girls don't care if they ruin their gains by running) that I'm gonna get up on tonight. I'm going to be dead tomorrow.

You failed to mention the 15 beers you're going to consume beforehand, or at this point is that to be assumed?

That's who I heard she was supposed to be as well Sully. I don't have the time to go back and try to find all the other scenes with her though.

I can understand your thought on the ending. [spoil] I think what has been so great about Kurt Sutter's writing in this series, is that you've got these people who you know are the bad guys, but over the series you find yourself slipping between hating them and rooting for them. At the end, Jax was too much the anti-hero for me, so I wasn't as upset about his journey, but as a father of two young kids myself, I found myself affected by his sons, and how they played the last 5-10 minutes.[/spoil]

Continued from TSN thread...

Gnova: I'd rather not get into a discussion about whether my picks for album of this year belong on the same list as Abbey Road, The Velvet Underground, Highway 61 etc. as it's just too subjective - and as we both know, there are plenty of fools who wouldn't include something like #1 Record on such a list whereas I think you'd agree it should be. So, in the last year or so, I've enjoyed albums by relatively new artists such as The War on Drugs, Broken Bells, The Starfolk, Courtney Barnett, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, The Heavy, Alvvays, as well as a couple by more established bands such as Pixies, New Pornographers, Elbow, Arcade Fire, Jeff Tweedy, Spoon and even a couple from the old guard - Bowie, Boy George. Good? No good?

IMHO with music, if you have to 'try', then that particular genre or artist isn't for you. So don't bother; either you like it nearly instantly or you don't. My own experience with Arcade Fire: I heard two songs on the radio for the first time. Didn't know the band at all. Thought, 'I like this song. What's it called and who is it?' That should be all it takes.

Agree, you can't force it, nor should you. Sometimes it's worth a second listen though as things like mood, surroundings, the people you're with, the device you're listening on etc. can each have a surprisingly dramatic effect on initial perception - same phenomenan occurs with wine tasting.

(interestingly enough, I wasn't crazy about AF on first listen)

Shameless plug alert:

After many months of preparation, my brother's friend has opened up a restaurant at 670 Osborne St S (in between the Park Theatre and the Oakwood Cafe). It's a pizza place called Vera Cucina, give it a try.

I remember when a friend from university suggested I listen to them, this was back in 2004 when Funeral first came out. I remember thinking "meh, they're okay...nothing remarkable". I just kinda forgot about them. Ten years later, I managed to land free tickets to their show at MTS Centre. Wow.

It's funny how your perception of music can completely change when you see a band live. My best friend plays songs from all these metal bands (Evergrey being one example) that I find pretty boring, but then when you seem them live? Totally changes how you perceive their music.
