When Myers asks for 8 year 60 million, Ristos contract will look like a great deal. Risto is much better than some people think.

Myers can ask for that all he wants.....he just better not be getting that from us. Ehlers for Risto would still be a disaster for us.

I'm not sure how it would work value wise, but i think Krug may have some potential in a swap of some sort.

I like Krug, he is 28 yr old UFA this year which is a problem. If those problems can be overcome no trade would even be thought of until after July 1st (I think) when Krug can be extended.....without a new contract it’s a non starter.

Lol....we heard that a bunch too....Frost, #11, Myers.

To be fair, we were basing that on an assumption that he would sign an extension as part of a trade to help facilitate the move... which in reality he wasn't willing to do. We ended up getting a deadline rental price for him without even a conditional pick if he extends. We (and the rest of the hockey community) are obviously underwhelmed with the return but the Jets decided they wanted to do Trouba a solid and move him now instead of forcing him to leave as a UFA. It's also been speculated by Sportsnet that Chipman found out early that the cap was going to be lower than expected so the Jets wanted to beat everyone to the punch shedding salary.

Chevy talked about "opportunity cost" in his interview and to me that means that keeping Trouba as our own rental meant we couldn't afford to sign both Connor and Laine long term. Some people have speculated that it meant that potentially there is a trade for Ehlers that they liked for a top pair RHD to backfill that was available now that wouldn't later.

For me I'd consider trading Ehlers for Pesce (or Klefbolm) due to their value contracts with term on them. Outside of those 2 I really don't see a return that I'd be happy with if we're still trying to contend. We need the cost certainty of having a contract already in place so RFAs or guys reaching the end of their ELC aren't appealing even though there is team control. Ehlers is on a great deal and locked in long term. Now that Trouba has moved on there isn't cap pressure that would force a trade. It would have to be for either a 2C that is a clear upgrade over Little with term or ideally a top pair RHD with term (by term I mean already under contract for 3+ years).

If it's not one of those 2 things coming back it makes no sense to trade Ehlers.

On Trouba....my issue came with certain people who pretended like what Trouba wanted, didn't matter. I and others said there was no guarantee Trouba would be traded "with an extension in place". And we were told "then he isn't traded"....as if that was the only 2 options. And now a certain someone who was the ringleader, looks foolish and deserves a little bit of backlash...in a haha way.

As for Ehlers, I agree with all of this. As I said before, I am an Ehlers fan having watched him here in Halifax. The Jets should keep him for sure.

Ehlers straight up for Nolan Patrick

Philly has their 1C/2C set for the foreseeable future with couts and Hayes.

Yes, centre > winger in terms of value, but proven > potential.

If philly is worried about that 3C position if they dealt Patrick, I think it's possible to expand the deal to make a blockbuster that includes Lowry for that 3C spot and in return, jets get myers. I'd even throw in 20OA to make it patrick/sanheim

2C is a secondary need at most for the Jets. If Ehlers is the bargaining chip Chevy is being used.....top 4 RHD is far more important then 2C.

Not hating on Patrick, but he just isn’t critical to the Jets.....at least not as much as a top 4 RHD is.

Ehlers Lowry 20OA
For
Patrick Myers 11OA

We trade proven for potential but are compensated by moving up nine spots. Flyers stay in the first round and get a good project at 20

Not sure how I feel about that, Jets take on a lot of risk.

Yeah, I wouldn't like that one. The Jets are giving up too much proven talent for too many maybes.

what about:

Shaw ( Jets were looking at him) + Juulsen ( top 4 RHD who wants to prove a lot since he was injured, he could be a steal, and I doubt Pionk will play top 4)

for

Ehlers
