When you stay up to watch a crud fest and then all of a sudden you're glad you stayed up for this crud fest

We pretty much gifted them all 3 goals with sloppy, casual d zone turnovers. Sloppy game with some super opertunistic offense.

PK seemed a bit improved tonight so that is a baby step in the right direction.

Our d zone systems, breakouts and our defensive play in general is still terrible. We get hemmed in way to easily. We get disconnected, chase the play and fail to make quick easy passes out of the zone. I think a lot of it comes back to PMos defensive scheme and systems. At the same time we have seen glimpses of decent zone exits and breakouts in the past. I think the players can execute better but I think the systems are suboptimal also.

A wins a win but we got a lot of work to do going forward.

Well happy to get a win.

The single biggest issue with this team is defensive zone puck management. We don't manage it very well and don't break it out that well and it leads to chaos.

I'm not worried about our offense as we are starting to generate more and dangerous chances.

No individual reports today i was going to give everyone a pass given the news that came out. I'll just say what I liked.

I liked that Fly came alive late. That has to help his confidence.

Dubois flying like he can with the puck and his hybrid of speed, power and skill will be a big time addition by the team.

Ves showing more confidence is good

Yep. Scheifele and Wheeler in the lineup won't change anything with regards to this putrid d zone play. Coaching is still a major issue.

Wait….isn’t that supposed to happen to us? Nice to pull one out of the fire and even out the shit luck.

I think the PLD 200 foot game talk might come down to earth however.

our pk seemed better tonight!
How much time did Pionk get on it?

I'm actually starting to notice it apart from the penalty kill now. He leaves his man wide open in front of the net way too often.

The wife was barked out of bed, and I had to take her out for a third late night walk, since I was still up for the Jets game.

As I walked Penny out, Ana went up by 1 with 4 minutes left.

I wasn't MAD, per se. I mean, I didn't BLAME anyone.

Not going to lie, there was a couple stinkeyes, but no blame.

And of course Penny was f***ing obstinate. I had to do the old "Family Guy 'James Woods, OO piece of candy!'" trick to even get her halfway down the block, until she was adamant it was time to go home. And when a f***ing purebred Golden Retriever is doing her Cujo impression, you KNOW she just wants to go home.

And so I led her home, back into her kennel, the wife cursed the day I was born, and I sat back down in my den as I could already hear both those bitches snoring away.

And then we scored! Yeah great.. oh wait FOUR THREE WE ARE AHEAD.

Okay that's rad.

Great game by Copp, he always works very hard and you have to respect his hustle. Nice to see him rewarded with a goal.

Dubois, Svech and Connor looked dangerous all night again, using speed and drop passes to create space - I'd like to see more of this with the team in general, however my sense is that this isn't what Maurice teaches, and that they are doing their own thing out there. A couple of bad plays by Dubois at the end of the game, and I'm going to hazard a guess by saying he was probably a little tired - don't know what his minutes were like - but with his play lately I'm willing to give him a pass, and hope it is a learning moment for him.

Ehlers, Stats and Copp were getting overpowered for most of the night, but I have to hand it to them for being opportunists. Great to see Nik finally snag one tonight - he kept testing that corner on Gibson, so I'm guessing they were able to identify the top corner as a weakness on film. Let's hope it leads to more goals!

Lowry, Ves and Harkins were pretty much invisible, and Lowry has looked less physical so far this year compared to years past - I wonder if he has something that is nagging him? Ves has the tools and the size, but I feel as though his speed lets him down a lot of the time - he never seems to be in a position to get that great shot off. An off game for Harkins, but he's also been playing great lately so I'm chalking this one up as an anomaly.

Toninato was okay, Nash with some bad positioning and a couple of bad giveaways on a few plays, but he has been pretty solid until tonight, let's hope that was an anomaly game.

Defensively, DeMelo and Stanley were the most steady, Dillon was pretty solid, but Pionk, Morrissey and Schmidt with some really bad giveaways again. This is a worrying trend. Way too lackadaisical play in our own end. How clearing the zone quickly hasn't been hammered home by now, particularly with all of the sloppy play that has directly led to goals, continues to astound me.

Beaulieu was... bad. Screened Helle on at least one goal, completely stopped moving on another goal. If we're going to keep him on the active roster he needs to be a power play specialist with very limited minutes only. Beyak called the play around him a 'trainwreck' at one point tonight, and I have to agree with him. Just bad play.

As others have stated, we had no business winning this game, but hey, I'll take it.

Harkins with Ehlers and Copp next game! :naughty: Just try it Maurice!

FYI, they changed it to Ehlers.
Grab your 2ques.

The thought of throwing toques on the ice for 2 goals is so cringy, and unrealistic considering the frugal nature of Winnipeggers...

But man, i really want to make this a thing after the KFC goals that got a bunch of toques thrown on the ice. Sports traditions founded in mistakes are awesome.
