Time to fire Flaherty and hire whatever Messiah coached Helle in the off season.

Elite gets thrown around way too much. He's good right now and he's young which is exactly why the Jets are so high on him. Think he could be becoming a top 10 goalie though.

Yes he’s doing well, as is the defence on the team

What is different?

Quite a few things:

Establishes position early, uses his size better in net coverage (caught moving laterally too many times, last year)
Better glove hand
Better rebound control

Pavelec does not belong in the league

you can admit Hellebuyck had trash #s last year (edit: he was trash) but agree that it's not reflective of his true value and you have up and downs with a young starter
I think Maurice mismanaged him last year, and undercut his confidence somewhat. He yanked him in 5 games, often too early when he wasn't at fault. He's definitely a stronger and more confident goalie this season. He's now starting to play to the potential he showed as a prospect in the NCAA and AHL, and as an NHL rookie. I think he's the real deal.

he looks unreal. He plays so big and his positioning is unreal. He never has to flop around or make quick movements it seems. Every shot on him, he is just there. Seems like every shot hits him in the body. Awesome to watch

Feel like he just needed some pressure off his back, seemed like he was getting too much pressure going into last season, this year the pressure was entirely on Steve Mason coming in and Hellebuyck was a bubble at that point.

Wondering what's going to happen to Steve Mason, if he'll be traded or stuck here until he becomes a free agent.
