off topic rant: co-worker said in game 7 of Nashville series that the Jet's would definitely lose. I asked if he watches a lot of hockey. He said he only watches soccer and that he's seen a lifetime total of one hockey game (on TV when he was in a bar). well...f@@@y@@. end of rant
this board is a prime example of there not necessarily being a correlation between quantity of hockey watched and the understanding of the game

I don't think it's fair to single him out. You could say that about numerous Jets tonight. We had possession in the O zone quite a few times and didn't get a single shot close to the net before it was turned over. I think people are focusing on this unnecessarily.

At least he had a few good rushes, zone entries, a couple of good shots and some incredible passes.
He's constantly losing battles for the puck...always has.
He also loses it too moch trying to deke opposing D men.

Hello. I am now officially on the Jets bandwagon as a Hawks fan. I was originally drafted by the Avs board, then went on to the Preds board only to be another jinx. And now I am here. I feel fate will be much different this time around as I am due for a series win!!!

GO PAT GO!!!

Love my Jets!

@irunthepeg is secretly a Vegas fan, don't ask me how I know.

I have a quick question about icing when are the linesmen suppose to blow the whistle?
Game 1 the Jets were winning ... the linesmen would blow the whistle for icing before the puck crossed the red line.
Game 2 Jets are losing ... the linesmen blow the whistle a second or 2 after the puck crosses the red line.
I know it seems petty but if there 10 icings that's 20 seconds lost.

We've lost 5 games so far.

Considering how young the players are, we are doing fine so far. But Vegas is scary for sure. No individuals, just a well-oiled machine. Kinda like team Finland used to be. A no-name-team being better than the sum of it's parts

Couldn't of said it better myself--and this is what makes Vegas such a "dangerous" team--no big stars, just one big finely tuned, oiled machine-- playing in unison. It's easy to take a team lightly when they have no "big names"--and play in what appears to be a weak division--in which they dominated.

The Jet's are going to have to come out tomorrow night, with all guns firing, and give a 100 % effort and make a statement to this team. If they go down 2-1 in the series--I'll be very nervous, because I think this Vegas team is wayyyyy underrated.

Underrated by who? The media won't shut up about them, neither will you. They are the weakest team left. They can still win. Hockey has way too much chance involved in the outcome to guarantee the better team wins.

In "your mind"--their the weakest team left, but I think the Jet's have the chance to prove that--right ?? We'll see how "weak" they are ?? I'm predicting this series goes 7 games --we'll see who's judgement is right ?? I give a small edge to the Jets-- but not much.

The Jet's just may need a little Pucka lucka tomorrow night ;)

Before the "don't take Vegas lightly" crew jumps on me, I'm not. But if last night was one of their better efforts, I still like our chances.

Jets will fix those breakdowns. They didn't give up those odd man rushes with any frequency against the Preds. Not at all concerned about it being a trend. Vegas capitalized on mistakes, don't make those mistakes.

Yes. Vegas scored the 2nd and 3rd goal on a couple of basic mistakes which will most likely not be repeated.

To me what is more concerning is the inability to make simple passes. Most of their passes were off and that has plagued them the last two playoff series.

When was the last time they executed a successful pass on a 2 on 1?

Good post GM--and I've noticed that myself--they haven't been hitting those 2 on 1 passes very well at all. I'd like to see them get sharper on those.

Looks like Tampa will win Game 3-- up 4-1 in the 3rd period-("great"). We will need the winner of that series to be a little beat up and spent as well. I think Tampa will take the next game as well--then game on there.

Yeah of course they will give it their best shot.

I agree Vegas is slightly underrated. And to be fair, the Jets are a better team. But Vegas has lost exactly 2 playoff games before this series after incredible regular season success, so I don't agree with people nonchalantly brushing them aside. You only have to look at what they have been doing. It is foolish to think this will be anything other than a close series that we might lose just because they are not impressive on paper.

I really hope we don't lose. It's almost the Jets' duty to stop Vegas in it's tracks. Enough is enough for your first year.

Sorry I saw it different. Connor was not trying to stick handle through 4 guys its more like they attacked him and caused the turned over BIG difference.

Go back and read my post again. I said he was trying to stickhandle past THREE guys. The four was a reference to his teammates making a line change.

FWIW, I saw it the same way as you, until the following morning when Sportsnet broke it down for me, with red arrows and numbers imposed on the replay. Yes, Connor IS trying to stickhandle. Yes, there is a line change.

Nothing in life is quite so obvious as having things explained to me, repeatedly, in slow motion.

Those "4 idiots" were teammates going on a line change. When the line changes, you dump the puck in. You don't try and stickhandle past THREE opposing players. Save your risky, egotistical flourishes for another time and just do what your team needs you to do: dump the puck in.

At center ice, four of the players on the ice thought that their teammate would do the expected, sensible thing. Instead, he screwed up, hence the goal.

I will defend your right to be wrong on this one. Just not to the death. I mean, I hardly even know you...

Have to be over center to dump it in he wasn't.

I've coached quite a bit. I don't care if you think that player should have dumped it in. That's irrelevant. You don't change until you see that play going the other way period.

A million things could have happened. His dump in gets blocked, he falls, his stick breaks etc. In hockey you always control what you can. Those guys shouldn't have come off the ice until they see that puck going in that zone period. There is no excuse or way to defend that.

They cheated on the line change period. It was a controllable mistake. Shit like that drives coaches nuts. You can live with a bad bounce, a good play being made by the other team. Seeing players cheat on a line change? No. That cost us a big goal and maybe the game. The margin for error is that small. Control what you can. They didn't and that s why those 4 players never should have gone for a change.

That’s exactly why I would go with Appleton in his place with Petan in Ehlers place and Niku in for Enstrom! Poolman in for Chariot.....

Let's get serious here. The Jets are not about to abandon ship at the first sign of adversity. Let's not forget how little playoff experience our line-up had before these playoffs. These are new experiences for pretty much everybody and I expect that the Jets are willing to see these playoffs through with the line-up who has brought them the success that they've had so far.

If irunthepeg is secretly a Vegas fan then he's been sure playing a long game after posing as a Jets fan for longer than Vegas has been in existence.
