As far as the actual player... the Oil Top 6 consists of 4 players. 3 are cemented - RNH, Drai and McD. The 4th is Yamamoto who has had a hell of a start. Yam was drafted a year after him at a lower spot.

Honestly, I can't think of a better situation for a player who feels they deserve top 6? Great coach, amazing Centres and opportunity.

To crack the Top 6 on the Oil he has to be better than Kassian, Neal, Chiasson, maybe AA and maybe Ennis (both aren't currently signed). Those are all good players but if you feel you are a legit Top 6 player, then you should be able to beat them out for a spot. I can't see any of them on the Top 6 for the Leafs, Bruins, Bolts or Pens for instance.

If he has any interest in staying with the Oilers organization then this is a dumb move. If he doesn't have any desire to stay in Edmonton and wants to be traded then this is whatever. Still makes him look a bit immature either way, IMO.

Actually it’s Puljujarvi who has the issue.
This is a matter with several folks having an issue. There is plethora of issi in the overall situation.

I'd say both. Actually that's a pretty accurate description of his whole personality. Dumb but harmless.

This is the right answer. The only reason it's dumb is the inevitable overreaction by fans.

Wearing a random team's hoodie does not imply a breach of loyalty, any more than a fan wearing a bunch of random teams' jerseys. This isn't Coke vs Pepsi, all the teams are in the same league and represent the same "product". I highly doubt the players see the distinction between teams the way fans do.

He isn't an Oiler. He has no NHL contract. People crying because he is wearing an NHL sweater of a random team are confusing to me. He isn't an Oiler or a Pen. They own his rights, he owes them nothing.

When Leo Komorov left the Leafs and went to the KHL he used to wear Leafs equipment all the time, even during his official KHL team activities. I thought it was hilarious. If anything the Liiga team he is on should be the ones miffed.

The thing is his NHL rights are still held by the oilers, so he's as much an Oiler as a newly drafted player is. No different than if Lafreniere were to be drafted by the wings, and then the next day throw on a Ducks jersey.

There's nothing the oilers or league will or can do about it, it's just unprofessional. Depending on his motivations (if there even were any) it could also be seen as immature. Is it a big deal? Not really, but there's a reason you don't see other unsigned RFA wearing other team's NHL logos all the time.

Yeah on the loyalty front, shame about his overt exply public statements that he's completely done and over with the Oilers and won't never ever re-sign with them.

"But now look what Jesse's done! He's wearing a shirt!"

What's it matter? He already publicly said "F the oilers" (rightfully so) and has no current contract with them. They own his NHL rights but aren't paying him shit so why should they get a say in what he wears? The penguins undoubtedly would have developed this guy properly instead of that total farce of a franchise that should have been relegated years ago.

well he is claiming to be done with the Oilers so he can put on whatever he wants. Maybe it was a Crosby or Lemieux hoodie or maybe he simply likes the animal. Who cares.
If I am a KHL player and my CHL rights are with a specific team. I would wear McDavid Otters tshirt without caring about the rights when I have no plans to play for my CHL team.

Here is Kevin Durant practicing in a Bulls Toni Kucoc jersey.

The Brooklyn Nets signed him to a 4 year, 164M contract last July. Do you think they care he's practicing in this jersey? Of course not. He's just wearing a throwback jersey he likes while getting some work in. If the Nets don't care about a top 2 player on the planet wearing a throwback jersey while practicing, why should the Oilers care about a player that doesn't even work them wearing an older sweater while practicing? This is a ridiculous thread. Puljujarvi is not an Oiler. He will never play for them again. That Pens sweater is from around 2012. It was bought before he entered the league and he threw it on because why not. I see no issue whatsoever.

I don't think it's a big deal. It is not like he is wearing their jersey and doing a media interview. It is street clothes. He is young and and comes across somewhat immature, which I believe is the biggest thing holding him back from excelling as a player, the mental side.

Did he really think that no one would notice him wearing a different jersey? It's fine if he has it but he shouldn't post pictures.
